Proposed Innovation, Intervention and Strategy
Throughout the years, teachers have implemented a variety of instructional practices that can
increase learners’ development and can keep their learners engaged. Education professionals
want to create learning experiences that will ensure knowledge acquisition for all learners. In
today’s diverse classrooms, teachers are constantly challenged to differentiate instruction to
meet the learning needs of all learners.
To help close the achievement gap, blended learning can be appropriate tools that can enable
teachers to save time and effortlessly monitor students’ progress to guarantee that no learners
are left out in a student-centered learning environment as it enhances learning interactivity
and reduces the sense of seclusion among learners. It can help cultivate a positive classroom
culture that empowers all learners.
In the study of Ortega Gil and Arcos García, (2011) about blended learning model, states that a great
advantage of the Station Rotation model is that the teacher is allowed more flexibility in working with her
students. The option of providing various types of learning opportunities for students multiplies the
students’ learning opportunities.
It is in line with Stake and Horn (2012) that the setting allows the teacher to easily differentiate the
instruction on students’ needs. The station in which incorporates educational technology tools allow
students to learn at their own pace and receive real time feedback to improve their material.
In one pilot study using this model, the academic gains of the students involved were very encouraging.
The overall number of students who performed at a proficient level after participating in this study
increased their level by a minimum of 10% with some nearing 40% (Walne, 2012). This shows great
promise for the successful use of this model in other classrooms, too.
The researcher will model classroom by setting up three different stations where one station is teacher
guided, the second station incorporates online learning tools and the third station provides
opportunities to collaborate in a small group to complete the given task .
The sample of the study consisted of 39 Grade 10 students of Makiling Integrated School and will be
divided into three groups.
B. Data Gathering Methods
This study will employ qualitative approach form of series of interviews designed to identify the
perception, challenges, and attitude of the students towards Station Rotation Model (SRM)
experience.
C. Data Analysis Plan
To evaluate students experience in Station Rotation Model (SRM); there will be lessons designed for
the participants that consist of three groups, the teacher assisted, computer assisted, and collaborative
approach.
The interview data will be systematically coded as suggested by Gibbs 2007.
