MAHINDRA AND MAHINDRA

Employee Review

Positive Work Culture

Described the working culture of staff to be supportive, Friendly and good team spirited imbibed in everyone
that leads to overall better performance.

Opportunities for Growth

The employees described the growth aspects to be very bright especially for Freshers. Mahindra had its learning
center ‘Mahindra Technical Academy’ where training and valuable discussions were conducted by experts
around the world for the growth and betterment of employees
Flexible Schedule:

The employees at Mahindra have the option to get reduced hours of Work according to their ‘Flexi Program’.

As per their flexi work arrangement, the total number of hours that Associates have to complete at work are
spread over a month (and not daily or weekly) and is tracked on an overall basis. They have the option of
working for a minimum of 5 hours a day and making up for the shortfall by working additional hours over the
remaining period during the month.

Flexibility hours is applicable for general shift. Min 4.5 hrs for half day attendance & min 5 hrs for full day
attendance. But for shift, 8 hours is mandatory for eligibility of shift allowance.

Unsatisfactory Payscale

Most of the employees were unhappy with their salary hike and payscale.

However, hike depends on different parameters(experience, Project performance, rating, etc)

The organization used to have a rating pattern called SMART, S being highest rating and T being lowest rating.
Now it adapted new rating system called XCEL, X being the highest and E being the lowest.

Mostly they don’t pay the employees in percentages. It pays them in fixed amounts. The amounts are fixed for
the people having same band and same project.

If the project is making very good money, you can expect 60k, 50k, 40k,30k as well. It all depends on the money
project making for the company, the amount the organization wants to pay it back to the employees as a hike,
number of people in your project with in same band (which effects your rating, as the organization following
Bell curve. If you are fresher, then mostly you will get 40k,30k,20k,10k or 50k,40k,30k,20k as appraisal.

A lateral joining can expect very good hike in salary while joining. Also, described too much variations in salaries
of employees working at same level.

Work Life Balance

According To employees Work Life balance is also Unsatisfactory and mostly depends on the scale of Project
undertaken. For instance, If you are into a support and enhancement project, you are bound to stretch your
normal timings, do night shifts and shifts on weekends as well. The organization has maximum support and
testing projects, but if you are lucky enough to get into a development project then your case is different.

If you are in a development project then you will get weekends off and normal holidays as per calendars,

If someone has a family staying with them then it will be of some help in balancing the fast paced career.
Balancing things ALONE is very difficult and frustrating.

It varies from employees to employees. But, on an average the general view is that the Work life balance is
not that great
