Background of the Proposal

The San Diego De Alcala Fort is one of the oldest heritage district in the

Philippines. Being declared as a National Cultural Treasure in 1981, it became one

of the key features the municipality of Gumaca Quezon. The presence of the fort is a

reminder of the dominance of the Spanish Colony in Eastern Luzon

Research Problem

Being one of the remote area in the province of quezon due to its distance from

Manila, the main problem that the reseach could face is the promotion of the project

to the people. Another one is the geophysical qualities of the site (near on a body of

water ) which is a risk in maintaining its materials property.

Objective of the Proposal

The main objective of this proposal is to develop a master plan of the proposed civic

center of the municipality of Gumaca in the province of Quezon. The proposed

master plan aims to

 Promote the cultural and heritage treasure of Gumaca Quezon not only for their

people but as a treasure of the Filipino people

 To create tourism in the municipality which creates opportunity for small industry and

micro-businesses for the people of Gumaca Quezon.

 Preserve the existing original artifacst of the old fort.

Background of the Proposal

The Sariaya Municipal Hall is one of the prominent Art Deco structure in the

Philippines. It is designed by one of the greatest architect of Philippine Architecture,

Juan Arellano. Today, the building still stood as one of the symbol of power in

Sariaya Quezon but a proposal was made to turn the old structure into a municipal

cultural center.

Research Problem.
Sariaya municipal Hall is

constructed in 1931 which makes

the researcher realize all the

possible architectural and engineering issues that make take place along the design

phase.

One of the problem is the detoriating finishing work in the interior and the unthinkable

repainting of the façade which makes it historically wrong in the context of the

history of its architecture

Objective of the Proposal

The aim of the proposal is to create a holistic architectural approach which yield to

contextual approach of the project. Thus,

 To Promote the architectural significance of the structure and its rich historical

significance

 To create a civic center that will cater a projected number of users based on

the future projection of population growth of Sariaya Quezon.

Background of the Study

Fort Drum or known as El Fraile is one of the

most significant structure built during World War

2. Its unique Military Architecture makes it the

last stand of the Philippines against Japanese

occupation contradicting what is taught in the

classroom that Corregidor is the last stand of the

Philippines against the foreign invasions.for almost 80 years, Fort Drum is now a

relic that reminds us of the legacy of our Filipino heroes.

Research Problem

Fort drum is a concrete island that been neglected after the war. It is strategically

located in West Philipine Sea which makes it hard for the transportation of people

and materials for its construction.

Objective of the Proposal

The aim of this research is to create a structure with considerations from Naval and

Military Architecture. From idea of both consideration, the design aims to :

 Strengten our security of our sovereignity and the morale of our Coast Guard

 To have a naval outpost for the Coast Guard in West Philippine Sea

 To execute the mandate of E.O No.57 series of 2011 which will become an

annex of the National Coast Guard Watch Center
