Final Examination in Management Information System

This document discusses information technology systems in education. It begins by defining information, technology, and information technology. It then traces the history of IT in education from the creation of early computers in the 1940s through reforms spurred by the launch of Sputnik and the National Defense Education Act. The document discusses how IT benefits students at all levels by enhancing learning. While IT provides opportunities, teachers must still guide students and ensure technology supports educational goals. Effective integration of IT requires teacher training and strategic planning to maximize benefits and avoid challenges like student distraction.

FINAL EXAMINATION IN MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM IN EDUCATIONAL
ADMINISTRATION

1. Explain the meaning concepts of information, technology and information technology.

Information can be thought of as the resolution of uncertainty; it is that which answers the question
of "what an entity is" and thus defines both its essence and nature of its characteristics. The concept
of information has different meanings in different contexts. Thus the concept becomes related to notions
of constraint, communication, control, data, form, education, knowledge, meaning, understanding, menta
l stimuli, pattern, perception, representation, and entropy. Information is associated with data, as data
represents values attributed to parameters, and information is data in context and with meaning attached.
Information also relates to knowledge, as knowledge signifies understanding of an abstract or concrete
concept. In terms of communication, information is expressed either as the content of a message or
through direct or indirect observation. That which is perceived can be construed as a message in its own
right, and in that sense, information is always conveyed as the content of a message.Information can
be encoded into various forms for transmission and interpretation (for example, information may be
encoded into a sequence of signs, or transmitted via a signal). It can also be encrypted for safe storage
and communication.

In modern life, we are surrounded by technology. It's integral to everything we do, big or small. We
can find examples of technology in our homes and personal spaces, in industry, in business, and in the
medical profession. Most people know technology when they see it, but what exactly is technology?
Technology is the way we apply scientific knowledge for practical purposes. It includes machines (like
computers) but also techniques and processes (like the way we produce computer chips). It might seem
like all technology is only electronic, but that's just most modern technology. In fact, a hammer and the
wheel are two examples of early human technology. The role and impact of technology in both our
personal and working lives is ever growing. Understanding how people shape technology and how
technology shapes people's interactions with each other and the natural world is important not only for
those who research, develop and implement new technologies but also for all those people and
organisations that have to use those technologies in their working and personal lives.

Information technology is a rapidly growing field that offers secure positions for individuals with a
minimum of a bachelor's degree in an IT-related field. From engineering to support, there are a number
of specializations that deal with the different components of information technology, and students with
solid technical skills as well as an aptitude for gathering information and interpreting data are likely to
find success in this industry. he field of information technology, or IT, covers the support,
administration, and design of telecommunications and computer systems. Some positions in this field
include system analysts, software programmers, computer scientists, computer support specialists, and
network and database administrators. Most of the careers in the IT field entail operational and design
tasks related to software applications, networks, and computer hardware components. Professionals work
with organizations and businesses to install and support viable computer networks that will keep systems
reliable and efficient. IT encompasses all software and hardware used in the creation, storing and access
of information. Examples of some technologies that IT professionals may work with include the Internet,
networks, media storage devices, databases, and firewalls.
2. Trace and discuss the history of information technology system in Education

In the 21st century, technology has rapidly emerged as an important component of teaching, learning
and reform in America. Although a valuable asset, technology alone cannot teach skills needed for
students to progresses in school. Teachers still must teach and model within classroom settings in order
for them to effectively deliver information to students. Technology is a great tool that reinforces what
teachers teach and a great way for individuals to continuously learn.
Technology has been married to education for decades, beginning with the creation of the first
vacuum tube-based computer in 1946, with the help of multiple universities. Ten years later technology
was playing an even bigger role, strengthened when Russia launched their satellite Sputnik into space.
During this time, schools were still abiding by the system that highlighted the teacher as the facilitator
and only source students received information from within the classroom. Even so, the launching of
Sputnik jump-started educational reform in the United States, which brought in money from the National
Defense Education Act and began providing schools with technology.

Technology is vital in education, because it offers students at all levels of schooling multiple
alternatives to learn faster. It is a valuable asset to young, adult and special needs students. For young
students, technology will dramatically decrease their chances of struggling as they move ahead through
school. In addition, children that become acquainted with technology show major improvements in their
reading, writing and math skills. Adults benefit profoundly from technology as well. Technology allows
adults to continuously learn, develop strong skills that will be helpful in almost any career and transition
into refined citizens. For special needs students, various types of software will not only benefit them
mentally, but physically as well. Depending on the deficiency, the actual movements and manipulation
of joysticks, mouse pads, and other hand held devices could strengthen their hand and eye coordination
and other physical weaknesses.
Significance
Merging technology and academics within the classroom to enhance academic content provides
learning tools for students, in addition to direct instruction. Teachers can mold technology to help
reinforce numerous subjects, as well as structure it to accommodate multiple learning styles. Because
everything as of 2010 is in some way connected to technology, students, even those on the elementary
level, already have some indication of how technology has the ability to enhance learning.
Although integrating technology into the classroom has many promising results, potential challenges
exist as well. One of the major challenges is that students have a tendency to get bored quickly and drift
off onto other websites. They must be fully aware of what the teacher expects of them, as well as the
outcome of what could go wrong if they do not use technology wisely. Moreover, technology could be a
challenge to a teacher if she has not had a sufficient amount of the training that comes from web-based
professional developments.
The teacher must plan strategic means for merging technology within the classroom. If she doesn't,
she will not cater to the target areas that she may be trying to strengthen. This will merely mirror the
technology of the past, when a teacher allowed a student to use an encyclopedia to gather information.
Teachers have to communicate to students exactly what their learning goals and outcomes are, so that
they can capitalize on their lessons. As for teachers, staff development sessions in technology are vital,
because they will be better equipped and have the confidence needed to implement technology-based
lessons.
3. Discuss the Social Media Management. Cite examples of situation to substantiate your answer.
Social media management is the process of managing your online presence on social media platforms like
Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter by creating, publishing, and analyzing content you post. In addition, social
media management includes engaging and interacting with social media users. You can use tools, services,
and social media managers to oversee your social media management.
A social media manager, whether working as a consultant, in-house employee, or team member at a social
media agency, is a skilled professional at social media marketing, advertising, and management. They help
achieve your goals for social media, like growing your following or social media revenue. No matter how
you approach social media management, whether with the help of an agency or a toolset, it’s essential to
understand more than social media management’s definition. You want to know what it includes, as well as
how to make it a success for your company.
Simply put, it's the process of managing a complete social media strategy. But social media management is a
little more strategic. It involves more than just replying to tweets and comments.  As mentioned earlier,
social media management is linked to other important aspects of your digital marketing strategy. Digital
marketing strategies are built on strong factual information. After all, to create a successful business, you’ve
got to know specifics about your market and how your solution will help solve a particular problem. Your
digital marketing strategy, therefore, addresses how your brand will position itself online to generate more
business. Social media strategy is concerned with the use of social media platforms to build awareness,
generate leads and sales. Social media management is a practice that supports your digital marketing and
social media strategies. It’s an important part of running an effective social media strategy because it
explains how your brand will participate (think content publishing, rules of engagement with customers etc.)
on social media platforms to generate results.
