Y8 Lesson Plan (Monday, Week 3)

Year Level: 8
Subject area: Languages (French)
Unit title: Nous sommes tous frères
Time : 45 minutes
Lesson topic : Les langues étrangères en France
Lesson goals : Students will begin to gain an understanding about the role of languages, specifically foreign
languages, in France. Students will be encouraged to reflect upon the role of language in our culture, note any
differences, and think about why this might be the case. Students will learn through class discussions, reading
comprehensions and videos. Students will have the chance to work collaboratively with a partner and the whole
class to consolidate their understandings, as well as noting any new vocabulary. Students will then be
introduced to the new task they will be working on.
