BD 330 Plus 3000 Plus Product Description EN Antwerp Ed01
The Atlas Copco BD 330+-3000+ Purge is a heated blower purge desiccant dryer which removes
moisture from compressed air by adsorption process.
All components are mounted on a single common base frame completely wired and ready for
installation, with generously sized towers and piping to minimise pressure drop through the dryer.
The dryer can supply dry air to the compressed air system with a pressure dew point (PDP) of
minus 40 ºC.
The Atlas Copco BD 330+-3000+ Purge ensures peace of mind by eliminating system failures,
production downtime and costly repairs.
The dryer is built up with large pipes and vessels which results in a constant pressure dewpoint
at 100 % load conditions and an efficient regeneration. The production efficiency is guaranteed by
the control and monitoring system.
The BD 330+-3000+ Purge is delivered ready for use and its installation is straight forward with all
internal components easily accessible to facilitate the maintenance. The interval of maintenance
goes beyond three years, thanks to the durability and reliability of the electrical, mechanical and
pneumatic components.

Working principle
The BD+ dryer consists of two towers containing activated alumina. In one tower the activated
alumina beads adsorb the moisture from the air, when saturated the activated alumina is
reactivated. After half a cycle, the tower functions are reversed.
The BD+ dryer consists of two towers containing silica gel and activated alumina desiccant. In one
tower the silica gel beads adsorb the moisture from the air, when saturated the silica gel is
reactivated. After half a cycle, the tower functions are reversed.
Wet compressed air flows upward through the desiccant which adsorbs the moisture, from bottom
to top (1). Dry air leaves the tower via the outlet.
When the desiccant is saturated, it has to be dried or regenerated. The tower is depressurized
and heated ambient air is blown through the saturated desiccant (2), via the blower (5) and heater
(6), forcing the adsorbed moisture out from top to bottom.
The dew point of the outlet air is constantly monitored and the dryer will only switch to the next
tower (3) when the desiccant is saturated, based on PDP input. During this period the dryer
consumes no energy.
