(i) Write down the mathematical name of the quadrilateral PQRS (1 mark)

(b) The function 𝑓 with domain, A = {1, 2, 3} is given by f(x) = 2 𝑥 − 3 .

(i) What is the value of (1) ? (1 mark)

(ii) Find the value of x for which 𝑓 (x) = −2. (1 mark)

(iii) An ordered pair for the function is expressed in the form of (a, b). Using your answers to (a)(i) and
(a)(ii), or otherwise, list the ordered pairs for the function, 𝑓. (2 marks)

(iv) Explain why 𝑓 (x) ≠ 5 for the function 𝑓. (2 marks)


(c) Solve the inequalities

(a) The Cumulative frequency distribution of the volume of petrol needed to fill the tanks of 150 different
vehicles is shown below

(i) For the class 11 – 20, determine the lower class boundary (1 mark)

(ii) For the class 21 – 30, determine the class width. (1 mark)

(iii) How many vehicles were recorded in the class 31 – 40? (1 mark)

(iv) A vehicle is chosen at random from the 150 vehicles. What is the probability that the volume of petrol
needed to fill its tank is more than 50.5 liters? Leave you answer as a fraction. (2 marks)

(v) Byron estimates the median amount of petrol to be 43.5 liters. Explain why Byron’s estimate is
INCORRECT. (1 mark)
(vi) On the partially labeled grid below, construct a histogram to represent the distribution of the volume of
petrol needed to fill the tanks of the 150 vehicles. (3 marks)

(b) The diagram below shows a frequency polygon of the number of goals scored by a football team in 25
matches.

(ii) the distance between Palmyra (P) and Quintec (Q) is represented on the globe by a string of length 25 cm.

(a) A sequence of figures is made from square of unit length. The first three figures in the sequence are show
below.

sequence of figures above. Some rows have not been included in the table.
