Course Overview:
This module aims at facilitating concepts of Service and quality management among MHA
students.
• Basic aim of service and quality management is to satisfy customers for services.
• Service is an intangible product that brings utility or value to the customer. 
• In health sector services or health care services are those cantered around making health
care accessible, high quality and patient cantered
• Quality is a complex term to define and there are several definitions of quality.  Modern
definition of quality derives from Juran's "fitness for intended use."  This definition
basically says that quality is "meeting or exceeding customer expectations."  
Module also introduces students about various standards of quality of care practiced across the
world in hospitals. Students should be able to compare various standards and know advantages
and disadvantages of these standards. Course will allow students to interact with professionals
who practice these standards across different type of hospitals. It is important to know that which
standards are adopted by government hospitals and how to achieve the certification for these
standards.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course students will be able to:

1. To understand the complex organization structure of a hospital


2. To understand the different needs of hospitals in different levels and sectors
3. To be able to appreciate the challenges and conflicts usually faced in hospital work
4. To develop a managerial orientation and thinking towards solving the above challenges &
crisis
