INTRODUCTION
The program is a powerful tool, yet easy to use. It's power comes
from many features and options such as quick and accurate
calculations, user selected units, selection of valve size and style,
valve data storage, and attractive printed reports and specification
sheets. Ease of use was a major objective in designing the program.
Program control via pop-up windows, function keys, extensive on-line
help facilities, easy to read formatted screens, immediate flagging of
errors, easy editing of displayed inputs, and other features combine
to make the program easy to understand and operate.

It is assumed by the program and this manual that the user has a
basic understanding of relief valve sizing calculations. If additional
clarification on valve sizing is required refer to the following technical
references:
INSTALLATION
Before you install CROSBY-SIZE onto your system, there are a few
things to take note of. CROSBY-SIZE requires at least thirteen
megabytes of hard drive space. If this is not available, the
installation program will not allow the program to be installed. Also
icons for Windows use are not created in this process. If you intend
on using CROSBY-SIZE with Windows, the installer must create the
icons manually. In addition it is recommended that there is at least
16MB of memory. If this is not the case, you may experience
abnormal termination of the program.
You will be prompted for the destination directory to install to. The
default destination directory is C:\CSIZEWIN. Should this directory
be unacceptable, you can simply overtype the defaults with the full
path to the directory where you wish to install the files and press the
CONTINUE button. The directory you specify does not need to exist -
it will be created if necessary as the installation program
uncompresses the distribution. The destination directory can be on a
network drive.
After the necessary files have been copied off the distribution CD,
the installation program will undergo a process of assembling and
decompressing files. When the installation program has completed
its processing, you will see the following message appear on the
screen:
* INSTALLATION SUCCESSFUL *
The first screen you will see upon entering the program is the "signon
screen", which appears as follows. Now you will be presented with a
drop down menu of options to choose from. This menu is referred to
as the "CROSBY-SIZE Main Menu". It appears as follows:
Function Key [F1] is active for most of the program, and pressing it
causes a special display of information pertinent to your present
prompt to appear. Information can be viewed by either scrolling or
pressing the page up/page down key. When finished with the help
screen, press Done to return to your preceding screen.
When you have finished using the CROSBY-SIZE program, click the
main menu item QUIT, then the submenu item QUIT TO
WINDOWS.
CONFIGURATION
The first time you enter the CROSBY-SIZE Valve Sizing Program,
you need to set up your "program defaults". The default values
include the various units-of-measure you want to use in your
computations, your company information, and more.
Each option on this menu, which will appear in a window in the upper
left hand corner of the screen, has a particular function. They include:
Please NOTE: the dropdown for “Preferred Paper Size” - the defualt
is 8 ½ X 11 paper, but, you can also select A4 paper.
Pressing the SAVE SETTINGS button will save the change and
return you to the Main Menu. If you decide you do not want to change
the settings, you can press the QUIT button and any change you
made will be ignored.
* Reactive Force: Calculate and display reactive forces per API 520

* Change Report Date: When this option is on, the user is allowed to
change the report date at print time.
Repeat this process for each option you wish to turn "ON" or "OFF".
Once you have made all your modifications, simply press the QUIT
button, and you will be returned to the main menu.
Using the arrow keys or mouse, highlight the desired setting and
press the [ENTER] key or click once. For example, to change the
unit-of-measure from "lb/hr" to "kg/hr", highlight "kg/hr" and press
[ENTER] or click once. Your change will then be reflected on the
Computation Unit Settings Screen.
Repeat this process for each option you wish to change of the
units-of-measure. Once you have made all your modifications,
simply press the SAVE SETTINGS or QUIT button, and you will be
returned to the main menu or previous screen.
