How can I effectively utilize HyperDocs as a tool for Focused Note-Taking? 
 

OBJECTIVES 
I will be able to  
1. identify the phases of Focused Note Taking. 
2. determine key 21st century skills that are supported throughout the FNT process. 
3. apply understanding of purpose to lesson planning in order to plan for Student Application of Knowledge 
(Phase 5)

Your group will be assigned one of the five phases of FNT. Be prepared to give a 60-second summary to the 
whole group. Prepare your group’s ideas below and take notes when other groups present.

Explore ​these samples of HyperDocs​. Notice that these samples facilitate the 4 C’s (critical thinking, 
communication, collaboration, and creativity). 

Brainstorm how you could use these digital tools for teaching FNT and HyperDocs using this table. You do not 
need to complete the whole thing, just the parts that pique your interest.

Task 4 - HyperDoc Workshop 

Check out ​these HyperDoc Templates​. Notice how they integrate exceptional lesson design (like the 5Es, 
collaboration, creation, etc.) into the packaging of the HyperDoc. Choose the one that you like the most.  

Create your own HyperDoc that you can use as a tool for Focused Note-Taking. As you create your HyperDoc, 
check out the 5

● Start with a template.  ● Offer choice…
