Module 1-Divisibility Rules

This document discusses divisibility rules for 4, 8, 12, and 11 for 5th grade students. It provides examples of divisible and non-divisible numbers. It then outlines 5 activities for students to practice applying the divisibility rules to solve word problems and assess their understanding. Scores are tracked to evaluate student performance.

DIVISIBILTY RULES FOR 4, 8, 12 AND 11

QUARTER: FIRST

GRADE LEVEL: FIVE

CONTENT STANDARDS: The learner demonstrates understanding of divisibility, order of

operations, factors and multiples, and the four fundamental operations involving fractions

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS: The learner is able to apply divisibility, order of operations,

factors and multiples, and the four fundamental operations involving fractions in mathematical
problems and real-life situations.

MOST ESSENTIAL LEARNING COMPETENCIES/MELC:

1. The learner uses divisibility rules for 4, 8, 12, and 11 to find common factors. M5NS-Ib-
58.3
2. The learner solves routine and non-routine problems involving factors, multiples, and
divisibility rules for 2,3,4,5,6,8,9,10,11, and 12. M5NS-Ic-59

DISCUSSION:

Divisible By
"Divisible By" means "when you divide one number by another the result is a whole number"

Examples

14 is divisible by 7, because 14 ÷ 7 = 2 exactly

15 is not divisible by 7, because 15 ÷ 7 = 2/17 (the result is not a whole number)

0 is divisible by 7, because 0 ÷ 7 = 0 exactly (0 is a whole number)

THE DIVISIBILITY RULES

These rules let you test if one number is divisible by another, without having to do too much
calculation!
