INTERMEDIATE CALLIGRAPHY FLOURISHING WORKSHEET

This worksheet offers a sneak preview of what will be offered in TPK’s upcoming Intermediate Calligraphy
Online Course. Each exercise provides a fun challenge, and you can incorporate these flourishes into your future
calligraphy projects!

GENERAL FLOURISHES
Note: this first flourish is easiest created if you rotate the paper 90 degrees, so the left edge of the page is parallel
to the edge of your table (see the orientation of “1” in the second image with arrows). Instead of horizontal
strokes, you’ll be making upstrokes and downstrokes.

LETTER FLOURISHES
In this section, you’ll try out a few different ways to add flourishes to individual letters. Observe the first two
letters, trace over the next three, then try writing the letter yourself once (or more, if space allows).
WORD FLOURISHES
Now, try practicing the following flourished words. Observe the top examples, then trace over the words in the
guidelines and try writing them at least once on your own!
PRACTICE GUIDELINES
You can use these guidelines to squeeze in some extra practice. I recommend choosing a few flourished letters or
words from previous pages and writing them here on your own.
