Section Four: Alignment to Curriculum & Professional Standards

Introduction

Section four of my portfolio connects the curriculum and professional standards to the

artifacts that were outlined throughout section three. Like every profession, teaching has specific

rules, standards, and professional dispositions which must be followed by those practicing.

Without standards there would be a lack of uniformity in schools and students would not be

learning the proper content for their development. This section lays out the standards in a clear

and concise manner. The standards included in this section are the Interstate Teacher Assessment

and Support Consortium (INTASC), New York State Code of Ethics for Educators, P-12 New

York State Common Core Learning Standards, Math and Social Studies, Ontario Ministry of

Education Expectations, Teacher Education Accreditation Council Claims (TEAC), International

Society for Technology Educations for Teachers and Students (ISTE), Council for Exceptional

Children (CEC), and Ontario Teacher Ethical Standards. The standards and artifact connections

will be organized into chart form at the end of this section for easy overview.
