INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES
1. Attempt ALL questions.
2. Read the instructions carefully before attempting EACH question.
3. Perform the instructions for EACH question in the order given.

4. Report any problems with the computer or software to the invigilator who will, if possible,
grant you extra time to make up for time lost.
5. If problems are experienced in printing your files, you may request aid from the
invigilator or teacher. Printing is not considered to be part of the examination.

6. After printing, it is your responsibility to ensure that: (a) All side perforations (if any) are
removed.
(b) Continuous paper (if used) is separated into single sheets which are then put together
in the correct order.

(c) Your candidate number appears in the upper right-hand corner of every page.
(d) Each page is correctly labelled with the name(s) of the files being printed.
(e) All pages being attached belong to you.
Failure to comply with these instructions could be disadvantageous to you.

7. A diskette will be provided and must be submitted together with all printouts at the end of
the examination. Note that the examination will be marked from the printed output and NOT
from the diskette.
8. An adequate amount of stationery will be provided.

Perform instructions in the order given.

Save your work at regular intervals as you proceed.

1. (a) Open the file named CAREERS located on your diskette.

(b) Change all margins to 1.5 inches. (1 mark)

(c) Change the paper size to letter size (8.5 inches x 11 inches) with landscape orientation.
(1 mark)

(d) Insert the text COMPUTER CAREERS as the title of the document. The title line
should be two lines above the content of the document, bold, centered and with Arial font
style of size 16. (4 marks)

(e) Insert the file named "SALARY" located on your diskette as the SECOND paragraph in
the document. (2 marks)

(g) Centre the table between the left and right margins and remove all borders. (2 marks)

(h) Insert the text below as the description for the new position of Data Entry Clerk:

(1) The underlined words are incorrectly spelt; use the spell checker to correct the spelling of

(m) Indent the LAST paragraph and italicize ALL the text in this paragraph. (2 marks)

(n) Interchange the THIRD and the LAST paragraphs. (2 marks)

(a) Open the spreadsheet file named "REPAIRS" located on your diskette so that it begins in
cell A6.

(b) Enter your candidate number in cell A1. (1 mark)

(c) Use the date function to insert the system date in cell E1. (1 mark)

(d) Label cells F6, G6 and Al2 with the text "Total", "Percentage", and "Total" respectively.
(1 mark)

(e) Insert a row between Printers and UPS and enter the following data:

(0) Create a pie chart showing the total jobs for EACH type of equipment for the
year. Use
an appropriate title for your pie chart. EACH slice of the pie should indicate
the equipment and percentages. Place the chart on a vacant area in the
spreadsheet.

3. (a) Open the database file named "SERVICE" from the diskette.

(b) Open the table named "TECHNICIAN'" and add a NEW record with the

the TECHNICIAN Table named "INCENTIVE" to calculate the incentive for EACH
technician. Name this query "INCENTQRY". Also calculate the TOTAL incentive to be
paid to the technicians. Name this query "INCENTIQRY". (5 marks)

(i) Create a query by joining the two tables to list the name and specialization of ALL
technicians who did jobs for the Trade Bank. Your query should display ONLY the first
name, last name, specialization and experience of the technicians. Name the query
TRADEQRY. (4 marks)
Generate a report on the query TRADEQRY. Sort the data on experience. Name the report
(j) "TRADERPT". (3 marks)

(k) Generate a report sorted by SPECIALIZATION then by LAST and showing the list of
Technicians. The report should display ONLY the last name, first name, specialization, and
experience for EACH technician. The report should have the title "LIST OF
TECHNICIANS". Name this report "TECSTAFF". (5 marks)
