Title Standardize Operating Procedure for grinding media charging in Mill

1.0 Purpose:
For smooth grinding media charging of mill
2.0 Scope:
Ball Mills
3.0 Responsibility:
H.O.D (Operation)/Section Head (Operation) in charge are responsible for implementation of this
SOP.
4.0 Pre requisites
1. Give the prior information to CCR & ensure that System is not in Operation and ready for
maintenance.
2. Confined space permit and general work permit to be taken.
3. Wear the Personnel Protective Equipments Helmet, Goggles, Nose masks and safety belt.
4. LC to be taken for the mill main drive, auxiliary drive.
5. First empty out the mill and ensure door is upper central position.
6. Required weighed quantity of grinding media is in stock and kept ready.
5.0 Procedure
1. Open the mill chamber door and keep the door and bolts aside.
2. Use right bags, shovels and gamalas for grinding media grinding media loading if required uses
pay loader for lifting the loaded bags.
3. Otherwise grinding media loaded in gamalas and loaded in mill by arranging proper
scafolloding and lifted by hand to and hand with personnels
4. Working personnel who are standing on the mill upper center position to be wear safety
belts at the time of charging grinding media to the mill.
5. After completing the work close the mill door and tighten the door properly.
6. Clear the LC and work permit and hand over the equipment to process for operation.

EnMS:

1) Check the grinding media stock level in stores


2) Before adding the grinding media to the mill check the % of filling, Wear rate of the grinding
media and Present power consumption of the mill main motor
3) Remove the scrap after segregation of grinding media and to be handover to stores dept
4) Filling the grinding media according the filling degree and surface area for the mill chamber
Norms.
5. Evaluate the party of purchasing before procurement of Grinding Media
