PAST OF TO BE (Was/Were) PAST SIMPLE (rest of the verbs)

To make questions: Invert the verb to be For the rest of the verbs follow this order:
Example: They were at home last night QW/AUX/SUBJECT/VERB/the rest
Were they at home last night? Did they do the washing up?
With question words: What did you do last night?
Example: Where were they last night? Where did your mum go yesterday?
BE CAREFUL! BE CAREFUL!
NEVER use the auxiliary DID with was/were ALWAYS use DID when there is a subject

could do about it. Two days later she was much happier. She felt much better.
