Pick Rotation Line - Clicking This Button Enables The User To Select A 3D Aid Whose Position Will Be The

The document discusses the Rotate tool in AVEVA software. It allows users to specify the rotation angle and axis when copying objects. Users can pick the position and direction of the rotation axis using options on the Rotate form. It also discusses how to create a circle in AVEVA using the Circle tool. It provides steps to draw a circle with a fixed radius of 250 passing through two specified points on a grid. Additionally, it mentions some capabilities of AVEVA Engineering Tags including comparing engineering data across AVEVA products and external systems, viewing schematic diagrams and linked 3D objects, and viewing document links.

Selecting Copy > Rotate… displays the Aid Copy Rotate form.

The Graphic Aid and Settings area of

the form are the same as those described for the Copy Offset… form, except that the Rotation Angle (in
degrees) must also be specified.
The Rotation Axes area of the form enables the user to select or specify the Position and Direction of
the rotation axis. The area contains two buttons to assist the user: Pick Position of Rotation - clicking
this button displays the Postioning Control form and enables the user to specify the origin of the
rotation axis using the forms options.
Pick rotation line - clicking this button enables the user to select a 3D Aid whose position will be the
origin of the rotation axis. The Direction will also be set to the aids direction.

Select Create > Circle > Toolbar… from the 3D Aid Constructs form to display the Circles form. Click
the Fixed radius, passing through 2 points button to display the Radius form. Enter a value of 250 for
the radius.
Set the Positioning Control toolbar to Aid/Snap and click on the top horizontal grid line where it
intersects with the sixth vertical grid line, i.e. 250 from the top right hand corner of the grid. This is
the first point defining the circle. Click on the same vertical grid line where it intersects with the
centre horizontal grid line, i.e. 10 spaces below the first point, a distance of 10 x 50mm = 500mm.
This is the second point defining the circle. There are two possible arcs that can be drawn with
the specified radius between these two points. A prompt is displayed asking the user to select a
Polar Control point, i.e. a point that will define where the arc will pass through. Pick an
intersection of the right hand vertical grid line with any of the horizontal grid lines between the first
and second points selected. An arc will be drawn as shown in the left hand picture below.

AVEVA Engineering Tags provides various Manage capabilities allowing users to:
 To be compare engineering data against data created in other AVEVA
products and/or external systems, and allow updates to be selectively applied
as, where and if required.
 View Schematic Diagrams in List Data
 Generate Schematic Models of Equipment items
 View linked 3D objects in List Data
 View Document Links in List Views

Compare/Update is a generic capability in AVEVA products to compare object data across different data
sources and products. It uses the concepts of source data, being a reference set of objects in another
database, and destination data, being the corresponding objects in the current database.
For instance a piece of equipment can exist as either a 3D model, a schematic symbol on a P&ID and as
a
Tag in the engineering data base. Each applicable source application can generate different attribute data
which can be passed into a target application with control. In the following examples, we will ‘get’ new
data
from Schematic, Design and Engineering databases of a project, into the Dabacon engineering data
base.
The mechanism of the Compare/Update feature provides an integrated environment where ‘Source’ and
‘Target’ data can be compared, with differences identified and reported. The data in the target database
can then be updated with any required change/modification or could also be updated with the creation of
new items.
Matching or equivalent items in both the Source and Target Dabacon databases could also be ‘Linked’, to
maintain their persistent connection.
