Ans. To welcome Kisan lal, there was a grand feast.The table was laid with brightly coloured food. There was
delicious- looking rice cooked in saffron, many different kinds of poultry dishes, vegetables, fruits and sweets.

4.Why did Moti Lal spend a ‘restless afternoon’?


Ans. Moti Lal spent ‘a restless afternoon’ because he was surprised at not getting any praise for the lavish feast
he had served to his friend.

5.What question did Moti Lal ask Kisan Lal on the day of his departure?
Ans. Moti Lal ask Kisan Lal how he could say that the food he had served was inferior to the meals kisan lal had
served.

Ans. Moti Lal finally accepted defeat because after every grand meal, Kisan Lal would say that the food in his

Ans. Moti Lal accepted what Kisan Lal said, that they worked hard and ate simple and nourishing food. Moti lal
agreed that the food they had served at his home had been too rich and also expensive. He went home a changed
man.
c. Write the opposite of ‘defeat’.
Ans. Victory

2. That evening, Moti lal spent the hours in great expectation. Dinner was served.

Ans: Moti Lal was at his friend Kisan Lal house in his village.

Ans: A simple dinner of roties , Curd, Dal, Salad and Vegetables was served to him.

Ans: Moti Lal had expected a lavish dinner, so he was disappointed with the simple food that was served to him.

Ans: Moti Lal returned home a changed man.
b. What lesson had he learned?
Ans: He learned that to live a healthy and prosperous life, one must work hard and eat simple but nourishing
meals.

Ans: Rita became a changed person after her pilgrimage to Badrinath.
