Assignment - Electric Current27 PDF

This document contains an assignment on electric current with 5 questions. It asks the student to calculate: 1) the charge in coulombs that passes through a cell with a current of 4.5 A in 30 minutes, 2) the charge in coulombs that flows through a typical house wired to safely handle 15 A of current over 1 hour, 3) how to determine the number of electrons that pass a point in a wire with a current of 6.0 mA in 1 minute, 4) the charge in coulombs contained in a lightning bolt with a current of 2.5 kA that lasted 4 ms, and 5) the charge in coulombs and number of electrons that will pass through a conductor with

Day 3 | Electricity

Assignment

Electric Current

Q1. What is the charge (in coulombs) that passes through a cell with a current of 4.5
A in 30 minutes?
Q2. Most of the wiring in a typical house can safely handle about 15 A of current. At
this current level, how much charge flows through the house in one hour?
Q3. A wire has a current of 6.0 mA in it. How do you determine how many electrons
pass a given point in a minute?
Q4. A lightning bolt carried a current of   2.5 kA and lasted for 4 ms. How many
coulombs of charge were contained in the lightning bolt?

Q5. A conductor carries a current of 0.2 A. Find the amount of charge that will pass
through the cross-section of the conductor in 30 s. How many electrons will flow in
this time interval if the charge on one electron is 1.6 ×10 -19 C?
