Brake Calculations Sheet

This document provides specifications for the compact 4.5 brake system on a tractor model. It includes details on tire size, weight specifications, brake type, brake dimensions, recommended clearances, force and torque calculations for achieving different deceleration rates during service braking and steering at the tire slip. Key specifications noted include an 11.2-24 rear tire size, 4 disc dry brakes with a diameter of 116mm, a required girling plate axial force of 417-534kg for 0.12-0.34g deceleration during service braking, and 253-280kg force for 0.63g deceleration during steering at the tire slip. Pedal effort is calculated to be 32.2-41.3

For Calculating Brake Torque (Static) - Steering @ tyre mue
Brake torque is calculated by
1. As per BIL
[Vehicle Mass * Tyre Rolling Radius*93% of (0.37-0.03)g factor]/Final drive ratio
2. According to my assumption
One side of tractor is revolving & other side is fixed with ground. So while calculating
Brake torque, decelleration value of 0.7g should be considered & tractor weight should
be divided by 2 (as it is shared by both tyres)
[(Vehicle Mass/2) * Tyre Rolling Radius* (0.70-0.03)g factor]/Final drive ratio

for service condition

BIL Considerations:-
1. For Ballast & Unballast tractor, BIL consider max. speed of 40 KMPH for
deacceleration of 37%g
2. For GTW (Trailer) , BIL consider max. speed of 25 KMPH for deacceleration of 15%g

for service condition

For 37 % of g & 40 KmpH, Stopping distance is 17m (For ballst & unballast tractor)
For 15 % of g & 25 KmpH, Stopping distance is 16.4m (For GTW)
for steering @ tyre mue
BIL Consider worst case of max torque
