This specification contains the general design requirements, fabrication, test, supply and
installation of dry chemical, and carbon dioxide (C02) portable fire extinguishers and
Suppression System with FM-200 as agent extinguisher. This system will be installed to
protect the Buildings of CLIENT, Venezuela.
The purpose of this document is not specifying the construction details of portable fire
extinguishers and FM-200 cylinders. It will be a Seller responsibility that all equipment
should be in accordance with the most advanced practice of design and construction for fire
protection system.
Items as: materials, service, etc, not indicated in this document, necessary for the
appropriate function of the fire protection equipment, should be supplied by Seller, without
additional cost.
The control system and detection systems that were specified by instrument discipline are
part of the suppression system FM-200, which should be offered all together by the same
manufacturer.
The followings documents for Control Room Building should be together to this
specification:

DEFINITION / INSTALLATION
The Portable Fire Extinguishers should be select by the class of fire and it will be
located in places that people can see and take it quickly, to give a fast response to
hazard area.
Compressed FM-200 liquid is held in the cylinder by discharge valve. When discharge
valve is actuated by a control head, the valve piston is displaced, the compressed
liquid escapes through the discharge port of the valve and is directed through the
distribution piping to the nozzles.
When a system is operated automatically via the detection and control system,
personnel must evacuate the hazard area promptly upon hearing the alarm. Make
sure no one enters the hazard area. Call fire department immediately.
5. CONSTRUCTIVE CHARACTERISTICS
It should be made of an adequate material to resist the severity of the ambient, like:
corrosion, temperature, humidity, and it should be able to contain the extinguisher
agent.
The remove parts that usually are pull out to recharge or to inspect that work under
pressure should have a device to decompress the system to operate it without
danger.
To decompress the thread parts, it shall be made in the first two turns.
