IDENTIFYING ELECTRICAL
POWER TOOLS
3
I What I need to know?
Tools can be considered as extension of human hand thereby increasing its
speed, power and accuracy. This lesson will discuss the different electrical tools
and its proper usage to multiply the manual work of human.
I What is new?
Advantages of using proper electrical tools
1. Efficiency of the work is met.
2. High quality of work is achieved.
3. Accomplishment of the task is faster.
4. Accuracy is obtained.
5. It is less stressful on the part of the user.

Check YES if you agree that the statement is for the safety and must be followed
and check NO if you do not agree.
1. PISTOL GRIP – This is a versatile type of drill with a standard pistol grip
associated with several attachments. This drill is used only for drilling metals and
wood.
2. HAMMER DRILL – Also called masonry drill he hammer drill is commonly used
with concrete or brick. It is designed with a hammer mechanism that is rotating.
Some hammer drills can be used for both drilling o hammering.
3. CORDLESS DRILL – Unlike the pistol and hammer drill a cordless drill uses a
rechargeable battery pack to power itself. It has an adjustable speed and torque.
• Make sure drills is clean and free from dirt and rust
• Inspect for broken cord, exposed wires, or even cracked drill housing regularly
• Make sure the drill is set straight into the drill chuck before starting to drill

Power Tool Rules
Use your tool only for the specific task it was designed for.
Read the owner's manual before using your tool.
Never use any tool (power or manual) unless you are trained to do so.
