Dead Load: From NSCP 2015 Table 204-2 Minimum Design Dead Loads (Kpa) Using The Following Materials

This document provides information to calculate the dead and live loads on a roof structure. It specifies the roof dimensions, materials, and framing members. It then calculates the dead load contributions from the roofing material, insulation, and purlins. The self-weight of the truss is also determined using the Thayer formula. Finally, the live load is found using the specified roof slope and the minimum load requirements. The total loads are given per node for full and half bay distances.

DEAD LOAD

Given:
Bay Distance = 6 m s1 = 2.89 m
Span = 30 m s2 = 2.89 m
Length of Rafter = 17.32 m s3 = 2.89 m
No. of Purlins = 12 pcs s4 = 2.89 m
roof angle = 30 deg. s5 = 2.89 m
s6 = 2.89 m
Roofing Material:
from NSCP 2015 Table 204-2 Minimum Design Dead Loads (kPa); Using the following materials:
Corrugated Galvanized Iron Sheets = 0.19 kPa
Insulation, polystyrene foam (10mm thk.) = 0.004 kPa
total load = 0.194 kPa
So, Load= 0.194 kPa
Load= 1.164 kN/m

CEE PURLINS: Use CEE4X035CS American Cold Formed Steel - Channel with Lips
A = 0.28in² h = 4.00in b = 1.63in t = 0.04in c = 0.50in

Cross- Sectional Area of Purlin: A= 180.645 mm2

Volume = Area x Bay Distance V= 0.001083869 m3

Unit Weight of Purlin = 70.7 kN/m³

(Made of Cast Iron from NSCP 7th Ed 2015, p. 2-13)

Weight = 0.0766 kN

(Weight of Single Purlin)(No. of Purlin 1 side only)

Load =
(Rafter Length)(Bay Distance)

Load = 0.0044 kPa Load = 0.0265 kN/m

TRUSS SELFWEIGHT:
Thayer Formula (From Steel Structures 3rd Ed 2012 by Z.A. Sididiqi, p.265)
where: W = weight of truss (kg/ m2)
W =√(𝑾/𝑺) ( 𝑳/(𝟖.𝟓)+𝟎.𝟓 ) w= total load per horizontal plan acting on the truss (kg/ m 2)
𝒌𝒈/𝒎^𝟐
S= Bay Distance (m)
L= span of truss (m)
w:
Liveload = 0.6 kPa = 61.16208 kg/m2 Therefore:
Roofing Material = 0.194 kPa = 19.77574 kg/m2 W= 14.8405 kg/m2
Purlins = 0.0044 kPa = 0.451003 kg/m 2
W= 0.145585 kN/m2
w = 81.38882 kg/m2 W= 0.873512 kN/m
Total Load: 2.0641 kN/m
