Overview
OUT50M is SS (soft-switching equipment MGC) access equipment.
OUT50M interacts with SS (or MGCP) through H.248 protocol.
OUT50M, which consists of control panel, media resource board,
test board and a number of user boards, converges a number of
narrow-band telephone access and broadband access. Telephone
service is provided by the SS, and broadband service is provided
by the Internet.
OUT50M can be installed in indoor and outdoor cabinets.
This manual introduces OUT50M OUT50M Outdoor Cabinets (here-
inafter referred to as OUT50M).
Equipment Description
The OUT50M cabinet is designed precisely with compact struc-
ture, light and nice shape, low noise, and good insulation with
speed-adjusted fan. It is suitable for the outdoor environment re-
quirements.
The whole structure includes the roof, the primary device cabin,
the cable distribution cabin, the storage battery cabin, and the
pole-mounted device.
The standard configuration inside the cabinet includes:
A user access unit, including eight user card slots support-
ing 256 POTS users and/or 256 ADSL users, one main control and
Features
Application The OUT50M is applied in the outdoor environment, providing 256
POTS users or 128 ADSL/ADSL2+ access service.
Structure The overall machine is a riveted and welded cabinet assembled
with three cabinet doors, the MDFs and the rails. The cabinet fea-

Cabinet Configuration
The OUT50M cabinet is grey in appearance and 980 mm x 750
mm x 480 mm (Height x Width x Depth) in dimension. The cab-

tion each kind of card slot. The lower 3 U of the shelf is for the corre-
sponding extended cards which includes the extended power card,
the extended main control card, the extended user card. Table 4
lists the OUT50M extended cards.

The OUT50M shelf has two power slots, two main control card slots
and eight user card slots.
The two slots on the right side of the shelf are for the power card
POWER K. The media resource cards MPR/MPRB can be inserted
in the slots LC5 and LC6. If the testing function is needed, a TSLC
(TSLCD/TSLCE) testing card can be inserted in any of the user slot.
If the EPM function is needed, an EPC card can be inserted in any
of the user slot. If the ODTI card is needed, it can be inserted in
the user card slots LC4, LC5 and LC6.

Cabinet Composition
The OUT50M equipment contains the power supply modules, con-
trol and processing module, test module, the user access module,
monitoring module, temperature control module, and anti-light-
ning module.
Power Supply The 220 V power cable goes into the cabinet from the bottom of
Module the cable distribution cabin. After the power cable goes into the
cabinet, it goes into the power monomer through power allocation
and then the power monomer led-out cable supplies the power to
the user shelf through DC power distribution box.
1. Power Distribution Unit
The AC/DC power distribution unit introduces the AC power
for the outdoor device. The unit includes the air switch,
anti-lightning device, wave-filtering device and ground row.
The AC/DC power unit resides between the AC power and the
power monomer (namely AC/DC translation module). It has
the functions of AC power connection, allocation, switching
control, lightning protection, over-circuit protection, bi-direc-
tional wave-filtering and grounding.
2. Power Monomer
The power monomer is compatible with the 110 V AC/220 V
AC power input modes.
The power monomer, namely AC/DC translation module, works
to supply the outdoor devices with power and translate the 220
V AC power to –48 V DC power, providing the DC power to the
broadband network access devices and auxiliary devices.
The power monomer includes two independent redundant
modules to achieve power backup functions. When one
redundant module is faulty, the another module can continue
to work, translating the AC power to DC power. The AC/DC
translation module is connected to environment monitoring
unit through a serial communication interface, which works to
display the over/under voltage alarm and fault monitoring.
3. The power supply module POWER K is used to provide the sec-
ond-time power and ringing to each user-layer. It outputs four
types of voltages: +5 V, -5 V, -48 V and ringing 75 V AC.
4. Storage Battery
The storage battery provides the device with -48 V power.
