Psalm 91

Psalm 91 describes how God protects those who faithfully acknowledge Him as their Lord and defender. PSALM 91

Whoever goes to the Lord for safety, whoever remains under the
protection of the Almighty can say to Him: “You are my defender and
protector; You are my God, in You I trust.” He will keep you safe from all
hidden dangers and all deadly diseases, He will cover you with His wings,
you will be safe in his care, His faithfulness will protect and defend you,
you need not fear any danger at night or sudden attacks during day, or
the plagues that strike in the dark or the evils that kill in daylight.

A thousand may fall dead beside you, ten thousand all around you,
but you will not be harmed, you will look and see how the wicked are
punished, you have made the Lord your defender, and the most High
your protector so no disaster will strike you, no violence will near your
home.

God will put His angels in charge of you, protect you wherever you
go, they will hold you up with their hands to keep you from hurting your
feet on the stones.

You will trample down lions and snakes, fierce lions and poisonous
snakes, God says: “I will save those who love me and protect those who
acknowledge me as Lord.” When they call to me, I will answer them.

When they are in trouble, I will be with them; I will rescue them
and honor them; I will reward them with long life; I will save them.

God of Power and Mercy, protect us from all harm, give us freedom
of spirit and health in mind and body to do your work on earth. We ask
this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
INVOCATION TO OBTAIN THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Most loving Father, in the name of Jesus, send your spirit to


renew the whole world;

Come Spirit of Wisdom, detach us from earthly greed and fill us with
love and desire for spiritual realities.
Send your spirit, Lord, to renew the whole world.
Come Spirit of Understanding, enlighten our mind with the light of
everlasting truth and enrich it with holy thoughts.

Come Spirit of Counsel, make us decide to your inspirations and
guide us on the way to salvation.
Send . . . . .
Come Spirit of Fortitude, give us strength, perseverance, and victory
in the struggle against our spiritual enemies.

Come Spirit of Knowledge, be the teacher of our souls and help us to
practice in life your holy teachings.

Come Spirit of Piety, come and dwell in our heart so as to sanctify all
its affections.

Come Spirit of Holy Fear, reign over our wills and grant that we may
always be disposed to suffer all pains rather than sin.

O God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, do instruct the hearts of
your faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit, we may ever know
what is right and rejoice in His consolation, through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
