A. Expressions and Equations Beast Academy Online (BA3 C Unit 7)


a. Corresponds to SC Math Standard 6.EEI.6

b. Use variables to represent numbers and write expressions when


solving a real-world or mathematical problem; understand that a
variable can represent an unknown number, or, depending on the
purpose at hand, any number in a specified set.

B. Geometry BA3 D 12 – Find the Area of a Right Triangle
a. Corresponds to SC Math Standard 6.GM.1

b. Find the area of right triangles, other triangles, special quadrilaterals,


and polygons by composing into rectangles or decomposing into
triangles and other shapes; apply these techniques in the context of
solving real-world and mathematical problem

C. Shapes – BA4 A 1 Angle Measurement, Trapeziods and Symmetry

a. These do not include 6th Grade Standards – For Review

b. Optional – This section includes a unit on measuring angles using a


protractor. Vocabulary: point, line segment, ray, vertex, etc.

D. Multiplication – BA4 A 2 Distributive Property, Area Model, Partial Problems


Algortithim

a. These do not include 6th grade standards – For Review

b. Optional

c. Students should already know the distributive property and area model.

d. Curriculum discourages the use of carrying digits in multiplication and


it encourages stacking. AT this age (6th grade) a child can use either
method but needs to understand both. As the children get older you
see them carry, not using the stacking method as outlined in the
curriculum.

a. Corresponds to SC math standards for 6th grade 6.EE.1

b. Write and evaluate numerical expressions involving whole-number


exponents.

C. BA4 5: Division

a. Includes long division using a non-traditional method and divisibility

b. BA4: 10 Fractions

i. Multiplication and Division of Fractions

4. November

a. BA4: 11 Decimals

i. Place Value, Converting Between Decimals and Fractions, Comparing and


Ordering, Addition and Subtraction

b. BA4: 12 Probability

i. Overview, Counting Review, Basics, Coins and Independent and Dependent


Events

a. Start Beast Academy 5
