According to the four canonical
gospels, Jesus was tried by the
Sanhedrin and then sentenced at
Pilate’s court to be Scourged and
crucified. Soldiers titled him “Jesus
of Nazareth, King of the Jews”.
The story of Jesus is paramount
to the Christian faith, his sacrifice
installs all Christian
understandings of salvation and
atonement.
