OBJECTIVE: During class students will plan their first draft by illustrating ideas for writing through the appropriate
Rigor conventions in the writing process. Students will draw out a bubble map to brainstorm ideas in their
writing.
OPENING:
Retrieval Students will all participate in defining terminology of the writing process. Students will go up and define a
word at the word wall and match the word to definition.
TEACHER INPUT:
Relevance Refreshing their memories on writing terminology, go over the 5 W’s 1 H.
MODEL:
Routing Students will all participate as I model how to complete a bubble map, and brainstorm ideas to fit the prompt.
GUIDED PRACTICE:
Retaining / Rehearsing
Students will practice pitching creating a bubble map.
INDEPENDENT PRACTICE:
Students will fill out their bubble maps individually, matching ideas to fit the prompt.
RESOURCES / MATERIALS:
Ipads, post it notes.
CLOSURE:
Re-exposure
At the end of the lesson, students will display their completed bubble maps during the gallery walk displaying their
completed work. I will pass out post it notes to each student to leave one comment on a classmates bubble map.
