Duelist Physical Bow Leveling Guide for League start

If you are interested in how to level my impale champion tornado-shot/barrage
character this guide will take you through acts 1-4 to the point where your gear
and gems should be set up. I won’t lie your damage might feel a bit meh just
before normal lab but the moment you complete it you get 42-84 added phys.
That alone will almost double your damage and the node has much much more
to it.

If you want to know whether the guide is good or not I managed to stay top 50
on the Legion Softcore leaderboard for the first 12 or so hours of the league
but if you have never leveled as a bow or attack character before it might be a
bit overwhelming. This guide is designed to sort of be fool-proof so you don’t
get overwhelmed and by the time your done all your links should be set up and
your damage should be extremely high.

I plan on starting as a bleed based gladiator build instead and if you are an
experienced player and want to try it out I’ve highlighted the key differences
while leveling but I currently DO NOT have a build guide for it but I believe it
will be strong if built right. DO NOT come asking me what to do after act 4, I
mainly posted the info for future reference when I do make a guide and for a
few friends who are playing it with me. Newer players simply follow the green
boxes where I’ve put them instead of the red ones and you’ll have a great
leveling experience.

START OF CHECKLIST!
1 Make sure you get the loot filter from page 1 or make one yourself
1 Kill hillock and pick up all items
1 Vendor everything except your Chance to Bleed, flasks, rustic sash, iron rings, or bow
1 Get Shrapnel Shot from quest reward at Tarkleigh
1 Purchase a bow from Tarkleigh and check him for boots with 10%movement speed
1 Try to get GR links in a piece of gear but you will replace it with GG soon
1 Purchase a Rustic Sash from Nessa (check rolls) and iron rings if you can
1 Put Shrapnel Shot in a piece of gear with Chance to Bleed if possible
1 Enter the coast and make your way towards tidal island

If you have never used shrapnel shot before you want to run past packs of
monsters to get them to follow you in a line so you can shoot behind you or
through packs you walk past.

1 Get the waypoint and then head into tidal island

1 Kill Hailrake pick up all the items and log out and in to return to town
1 Get Onslaught from nessa quest reward, purchase Mirage Archer from her
1 Sell unneeded gear and purchase iron rings, check vendors for movespeed boots
0 Be on the lookout for GGG or GGR gear

1 Return to Coast waypoint and do glyphs in Mud Flats, return to town at next waypoint
1 Get War Banner and Dash from quest reward, buy a Short Bow if you don't have better
0 Check for GGG or GGR 3 links, 2 links if unlucky. Buy iron rings if you still dont have.
1 Buy gloves/helmet/chest with extra Red or Green sockets if you can
1 Buy Puncture from Nessa, even with no links its worth keeping up on single target

1 Return to the passage waypoint

1 Try and find "The Flooded depths" and leave a portal at the entrance
1 Do not enter the portal and head to the next zones waypoint
1 Go to town from the ledge waypoint and check vendors if needed
1 Go into your previously placed portal and enter the depths
1 Kill the Dweller to complete the quest and logout to return to town
1 Check vendors if you leveled up and return to the ledge

1 Make your way to and through The Climb and into the Lower Prison
1 Return to town from the Lower Prison waypoint and check vendors
1 Get Maim from the quest reward, check Tarkleigh for a Serrated Arrow Quiver
1 Buy better Flasks from Nessa and prepare for the fight with Brutus
1 Return to the Lower Prison waypoint

1 Try and find the Lab Trial in the lower prison, you can come back later if you dont
1 Enter the Upper prison and make your way to Brutus
1 Kill Brutus, keep up Puncture and spam Shrapnel Shot
1 Logout once Brutus is dead to return to town, you will have the waypoint
1 Get Blink Arrow if you prefer that over Dash from quest reward
1 Check vendors and head to the Prisoner's Gate waypoint

0 Try to kill lots of mobs as you want to hit level 12 before merveil
0 Make your way through Prisoner's Gate into The Ship Graveyard
0 Find the waypoint, it should be close to the entrance
0 If you find Merveil's Caverns enter it and get the waypoint, return to Ship Graveyard
0 If you found the Ship Graveyard Cave enter it and get the All Flame
0 Look for Fairgraves (the boat up a small ledge) and kill Fairgraves
0 Head towards Merveil's Caverns and get the waypoint or return to town if you already found it
1 Once in town collect Rain of Arrows from the quest reward and replace Shrapnel Shot

1 You should feel really strong if you have been keeping up with the gear said on the right
1 Head towards Merveil and kill her, again Puncture every 8 seconds and spam Rain of Arrows
1 Enter the Southern Forest and click Act 2 at the bottom of this page
1 If you are still under level 12 kill lots of monsters in the Southern Forest to level

When ID’ing a new bow make sure you take the weapons base phys damage
into consideration, for example a crude bow rare will almost always be worse
than plain long bow because the crude bow has 5-13 base damage and the
longbow has 6-25
Keep at least a few magic or rare Rustic Sashes. There is a vendor recipe for
weapon + magic/rare Rustic Sash + Whetstone and you get the weapon with
70% phys.

Warbanner can be placed for a short burst of damage, drop warbanner > puncture > spam Rain of Arrows
 You could purchase a Long Bow at this point
However it costs 1 Transmute and is a fairy common drop

At this point you should have

A rustic sash

0 (OPTIONAL) For another quicksilver flask do The Den in this zone and kill the boss
0 Enter The Crossroads and follow the road to the waypoint in the middle
0 Get the waypoint and follow the road that moves towards the top/left
0 Enter The Chamber of Sins and make your way to level 2
0 Do the Lab Trial in this zone then find the long hallway that leads to Fidelitas
0 Kill Fidelitas, collect the Baleful Gem and return to town
0 Get Flesh and Stone from the quest reward
0 Go to Yeena and buy Herald of Purity then Blood Rage
0 Buy a Composite Bow from Gruest if it is better than yours
0 Return to The Crossroads waypoint and head on the path to the right

0 Enter The Broken Bridge from The Crossroads and follow the path to Kraitin
1 Kill Kraitin and return to town
0 Exit to the right side of town into The Riverways
0 Follow the path to the waypoint. If you are using dash you may need to walk around
0 Once at the waypoint follow the grass path to The Wetlands (check picture>)
0 Enter The Wetlands and look around for Oak
0 Kill Oak and then look for the waypoint in this zone, its around the outer edges
0 Return to town from waypoint, check Greust for a Decurve Bow if it is better
0 Return to The Riverways waypoint

0 Follow the path to the left and enter The Western Forest
0 Continue following the path until you see another dirt path similar to the previous one
0 Follow the dirt path that leads to Alira (shown to the right)
0 If you are following my Impale Champion build(recommended) follow the green boxes
1 Impale Champion HELP Alira and take The Apex from her
0 Bleed Gladiator Kill Alira (ignore red boxes if you are impale champ)
0 After dealing with Alira continue down the path until you see the guards
0 Kill the guards, pickup the quest item and click the nearby Thaumetic Seal
0 Look for the spider/web infested part of the zone (can be top or bottom side)
0 Enter The Weaver's Chambers in this part of the zone

0 Make your way through the chambers and kill The Weaver at the end you take
1 Kill The Weaver, pickup the spike and return to town "Graceful
0 Tak to Silk and get Vicious Projectiles from quest reward Assault" around

1 Return to Act 1 and get the skill point from The Way Forward

0 Enter the vaal ruins until you come to a blockage, click it to get rid of it
0 Enter The Northern Forest, this is a good spot to farm if you are under level 20 or so

0 Make your way through The Caverns, and head up the Pyramid once you reach it
0 Once at the Apex click to summon the Vaal Oversoul and kill it
0 Enter The City of Sarn and click Act 3 at the bottom of this page
0 Make sure to talk to Clarissa if you are running ahead or you wont be able to enter town

The lootfilter on Page1 will highlight bows that are appropriate for your level
Make sure when looking at rares you look at the two stats highlighted to the right
A 200% phys damage bow with 15-40 phys is worse than a 70% phys bow with 20-61

0 Make your way through and kill the guards surrounding Clarissa
1 Kill the guards, talk to Clarissa, and than make your way to town
0 Vendor if you need to than head into The Slums
0 Look for the Crematorium, enter it and get the waypoint
0 Complete the Lab trial in this zone then look for Piety
0 Kill Piety then loot Tolman's Bracelet and return to town
1 Impale Champs get Dread Banner from Maramoa, replace War Banner

0 Find the Sewer Grating in the slums, usually not too far from entrance

0 The Docks is a good spot to farm if youre below level 27 or so
0 Search the zone for the Thaumetic Sulphite, loot it and return to town
0 Vendor if you need to, if you dont have a rare bow check recipe on the right

0 Return to The Battlefront and head towards the top/left of the zone
0 Enter the Solaris Temple and make your way through it
0 Enter level 2 and keep going until you find Dialla
0 Talk to her to get the Infernal talc, you probably also want the Intelligence amulet
0 Go to the nearby waypoint and head to The Sewers waypoint
0 Clear out the nearby Undying Blockage and than enter the Barracks
0 Get the waypoint, follow the path towards the Lunaris Temple
0 Enter the Temple and make your way through it
0 Enter level 2 make your way to Piety and kill her
0 Loot the Tower Key, return to town and talk to Grigor for a passive point
0 Go to the Ebony Barracks waypoint

0 Head to the right/top area and enter the Imperial Gardens

0 Find the waypoint for this zone, it is usually part of a main road/path
0 Move towards the top/left part of this zone and find the Lab trial and complete it
 0 Impale Champs go to the entrance of the trial, follow left wall to library
0 Enter the Library, get waypoint and do The Golden Pages sidequest
0 You might have to look hard for a candle that opens up the zone
