COURSE INFORMATION
1. Course Number : EdMath 2
2. Course Name : Plane and Solid Geometry
Course Description : This course is intended to provide the concepts and skills needed the students
to consolidate their understanding of basic geometry principles’, axioms, properties and theorems. It aims to
provide a basic yet formal understanding of shapes and figures, their properties and applications preparation for a
course in Analytic Geometry. The use of graphing calculator and computer algebra system is highly encouraged.
3. Pre-requisite : Math 1b
4. Co-requisite : None
5. Credit : 3.0 units
6. Class schedule : 5 hours per week

Three to five years after graduation, the BEED/BSED graduates are expected to:

First Exam Part 1: Chapter 1-3 Multiple Choice You are expected to define and construct the basic geometry shapes with respect

Numbers, Geometry, Measurement and Algebra. It further intends to develop and
strengthen the following general skills: problem formulating and solving, justifying
and reasoning, evaluating and extending, and analytical skills.
You are expected to apply the properties of geometric objects in drawing or in
construction with the simplest possible instruments. You are also to understand
the ‘what’s allowed’ and ‘what’s not allowed’ in construction.You will have a short
quiz every end of the lesson, a group activity in the middle of the week and a long
quiz every Friday. Assessment for this period of the course is a periodical
examination.
Second Part 2: Chapter 4-6 Multiple Choice You are expected to demonstrate deep knowledge on performing operations in
Exam Questions application to the rules an properties of plane, similarity and symmetry. You are
(75% of the exam) also expected define and discuss the idea of similarity and proportionality and also

apply the basic proportionality theorem and its converse to practical problems.
Develop the basic theorems for triangle similarity. Apply similarity concepts to the
right triangle.
You are expected to analyze the concept of motion in geometric terms. Set up
correspondence between congruent figures based on reflections, translations and
rotations and also to relate the idea of symmetry of reflections in the plane.You
will have a short quiz every end of the lesson, a group activity in the middle of the
week and a long quiz every Friday. Assessment for this period of the course is a
periodical examination.
Third Exam Part 3: Chapter 7-8 Multiple Choice You are expected to perform operations in application to the rules and properties
Questions of solid figure in finding the area, surface area and volume. It also include in
(75% of the exam) learning the vectors in Cartesian three-space in which you recall your knowledge in
Edmath 1(Advance Algebra and Trigonometry) locating the points, identifying the
direction of line, computing the distance between two points. This assessment task
is designed for you to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding on EdMath 2
(Plane and Solid Geometry) and it’s intended to enhance students’ visualization
skills and creativity. This also strengthens your reasoning skills and ability to solve
mathematical concept.You will have a short quiz every end of the lesson, a group
activity in the middle of the week and a long quiz every Friday. Assessment for this
period of the course is a periodical examination.
Final Exam Part 4: Chapter 9- Multiple Choice You are expected to analyze the concept of polar coordinates and Cartesian in n-
10 Questions space.This assessment task is designed for you to come up deep understanding in
(100%) the complexity of the general mathematical principles and concepts upon learning
EdMath 2(Plane and Solid Geometry).You will have a short quiz every end of the
lesson, a group activity in the middle of the week and a long quiz every Friday.
Assessment for this period of the course is a periodical examination.

Second Exam Part 2: Chapter 4- Problem Set  The purpose of this task is for you to demonstrate your deep knowledge on performing

enrich your skills in solving Geometric concepts.
 You will perform rigid practice in developing your higher order thinking skills to enhance
your mastery in learning mathematical concepts.
 The strategy of TPS (Think, Pair, Share) will help you in performing the task of problem set
activity.
 You will be graded according to the following criteria (see rubric attached):

Third Exam Part 3: Chapter Activity Worksheet  The purpose of this task is for you to solve different formulas in application to the
7-10 (25% of the exam) rules and properties of solid figure in finding the area, surface area and volume. It
also include in computing the vectors in Cartesian three-space such as
distance,magnitude,sum of vector,scalar multiplication and dot product.
 You are required to answer required number of worksheet on a specified time frame.
 You will be graded according to the following criteria (see rubric attached):
