Content Standards The learner demonstrates an understanding of:

1. the principles and techniques of design using online

ICT content for specific professional tracks

at the end of the 2-week period independently apply the


principles and techniques of design using online creation
tools, platforms, and applications to create original or
derivative ICT content for use in specific professional tracks
Learning Competencies The learners:

1. evaluate existing online creation tools, platforms and


applications in developing ICT content for specific
professional tracks
2. apply web design principles and elements using
online creation tools, platforms, and applications to
communicate a message for a specific purpose in
specific professional tracks
3. create an original or derivative ICT content using
online creation tools, platforms, and applications to
effectively communicate messages related to specific
professional tracks
Time Allotment 4 hours and 30 minutes / 270 minutes

LESSON OUTLINE

I- Introduction The instructor will call someone to lead the opening prayer,
greet the students, check them in regards to their personal
stuff last weekends, and after checking their state of mind,
and to make sure that their focus is in the class, there will be
a brief summary or recap of the last topic.

II- Motivation Week 7: An Online Pre-test will be conducted a day before


the proper discussion. The teacher will;

- Divided the class into two groups.


- One group represents “team social media” while the
others represents “team bloggers”.
- The groups will have a 10-minute closed group
discussion about the advantages.
- After 10 minutes, the groups will choose 5
representatives that will debate on which platform is
superior and why.
- Those who are not presenting the group will be given
a chance to raise their point by raising their hand.
- After the debate, write your thoughts on the space
provided by answering the question below:

What platform is superior? Why?

Week 8: An Online Pre-test will be conducted a day before


the proper discussion. The teacher will ask;
- How hard it is to create a web page?
- What about a site that gives you full control over its
design?
- They will interview 3 of their classmates and ask
them to name a website they normally visit but are
not familiar to them.

- Ask them what makes the site – graphics, layout, or


content.

III- Instruction/ Delivery Online Platforms for ICT Content Development

Example of online platform and application:

1. Presentation tools
2. Cloud computing
3. Mapping tools
4. File management platforms
5. Social media (SocMed)
6. Web page creation

Online Platforms for ICT Content Development

Presentation Tool. Graphic program that allow you to create


slideshow presenting the topic, lecture, demonstrate to
enlighten, educate, communicate or persuade the audience.

Examples: Prezi, Zoho Show, Slideshare, MindMeister, MS


Powerpoint, ProShow Producer

Cloud Computing. It means storing and accessing data and


program over the Internet instead of your computer’s hard
drive.

Examples: Google Drive, Evernote, Dropbox, Mega.nz

Social Media Platforms. Websites like Facebook allow you


to create not only personal accounts but also pages and
groups where you can share content.

File Management. It is a computer program that provide a


user interface to manage file and folder.

Examples: Zamzar, Word2pdf

Mapping. Is the creation of maps, a graphic symbolic


representation of the significant features of part of the
surface of the Earth.

Examples: Wikimapia, Google Maps

Web Page (Creation). It is document that is suitable for the


WWW and Web Browser. It is also written in HTML or
comparable markup language (hypertext markup language).

Examples: Wix, Weebly, GoDaddy

Blogging Platforms. It typically looks like a newsletter


where you are given options to change the design to your
liking. Though you can manipulate the design, social media
platform’s popularity is still unrivaled.

Content Management System


A Content Management System (CMS) is a computer
application (sometimes online or browser-based) that allows
you to publish, edit and manipulate, organize and delete web
content. CMS is used in blogs, news websites, and shopping.

Basic Web Page Creation (Principle and Elements)

- Web page creation using templates


- Web page design using an online
- WYSIWYG platform

WYSIWYG

WYSIWYG is the acronym for What You See Is What You


Get. This means that whatever you type, insert, draw, place,
rearrange, and everything you do on a page is what the
audience will see.

Web Design – it is a concept of planning, creating, updating


and maintaining the website.

Web Design Elements:

- Text
- Graphics/Illustration
- Shapes
- Background
- Color
- Video/Audio
- Links

Web Design Principle:

- Portable Design
- Design for Low Bandwidth
- Direction (Section)
- Accessible
- White Spaces
- Convenience
- Regular Testing
- Simplify

(Note: This will be explained by the instructor in the session


through a PowerPoint presentation)

IV- Practice Exploration 6.1. Jump starting Your Social Media Campaign
It is time to push on with your social media campaign from lesson
1.

1. Take a look at your initial plan from lesson 1’s


Exploration 1.1 identifying the Correct Web Platform for
Social Change.
2. It is time to set up your website. If you are not
knowledgeable with the platform you chose, feel free to
change it. You can do a research on how to set up
accounts for the platform you chose well. Creating a
Facebook page would be an easy task.
3. Make sure you use the principles of design when lay
outing and adding content for your page.
4. Once set up, adding content like photographs. Use
PhotoScape to edit these photos. Use Photobucket to share
these photos to your page and wherever you see fit.
5. The teacher will check the status of your site after a few
weeks.

Turn to Shine

1. Give three (3 websites that your visit. What makes their


site design work?
2. Research on Photobucket and two (2) more image hosting
sites and check out the limitations of the free account.
What is the best hosting site for you and why?
3. What are the limitations of PhotoScape compared to other
image editors?

V- Enrichment The instructor, then, will ask the students how they
understood the topic, the importance of the topic, and the
relevance of the topic in their daily lives.
VI- Evaluation At the end of the 2-week period, the instructor will ask the
students to independently apply the principles and techniques
of design using online creation tools, platforms, and
applications to create original or derivative ICT content for
use in specific professional tracks.
