“Good morning Ma’am Joana!”
“May I know who are the absents for today?”

“Thank you. What can you still remember about the (One student will dictate who are the

C. INTRODUCTION
“Have you enjoyed the activity, class?” “Yes ma’am!”

“Congratulations group 1, you are the winner. How “No Ma’am!” / “Yes Ma’am!”
about the others? Did you find it difficult to do and
answer the task?”

“What problems have you encountered during the “We immediately did the tasks without
activity?” reading everything first.”

“Okay. Now group 1, kindly tell to the class how did “We try to read all the written tasks on the
you quickly solve or answer the activity?” board first, before we start doing it.”

“So basically, you just followed the instruction.” “Yes ma’am!”

“Try to observe the sentences in our activity. Are you “Yes Ma’am! / No Ma’am!”
familiar with these kind of sentences?”

“What do you think our topic is all about?” “All about giving instructions/ commands/
directions, Ma’am!”
“Very good. All of these are related to our topic for
today.”
D. PRESENTATION
“Our topic is all about Imperatives and Prepositions.”

“Let’s start with imperatives first.”

“Class, kindly read the meaning of imperative “Imperative sentences are used to offer
sentence.” advice, issue a command or instruction, and
make a request.”
“Imperative sentence gives instructions or advice,
and expresses commands as well as request. “
“How will you identify if it’s in a command or in a
request form?”
“Okay so let’s take a look at these and observe the
statements on the pictures.”
“Yes Ma’am!”

“Kindly put these books on my desk. The girl

is requesting to the boy to kindly put the
books on her desk.”
“Get the fire extinguisher in the basement!
Grizz is commanding his brother to get the
fire extinguisher.”

“Request starts with ‘please’ and ‘kindly’.”

“Command always starts with a verb.”

“Kindly get a glass of water.”

“Get a glass of water.”

“It possesses more respect to the listener.”

“Request ma’am. Because aside from you will

be using the ‘Please’ keyword, it is rude if you
use command when asking or talking to
someone who’s older than you. Most
especially if it’s your parents.”

“I will use ‘please’ or ‘kindly’, Ma’am. For

example, “Mom kindly give me a money,
because I want to join to with our fieldtrip.”

“All of these shows examples of an imperative

sentence.” “Affirmative verbs are always in the base
“Can you figure out what are their similarities and form and are found at the beginning of the
differences?” sentences. While the negative verb is made
with do not or don’t.”
“Kindly read and describe the first picture, Mr.
Pinili.”
“Thank you. How about on the next picture, Mr.
Marvin?”
“Affirmative verbs are always in the base
form and are found at the beginning of the
“Thank you. So I assume you can now easily figure sentences. While the negative is made with
out the difference between command and request.” do not or don’t.”
“Now, what words are used in imperative sentence
that uses a request?”

“Very good. How about in command?”

“Give your own example of an imperative sentence

that is in request form.”

“How about in a command form?”

“Affirmative ma’am. Because it uses the word
“See the difference? When we use command, it ‘Write’ which is in a base form of a verb.”
seems like you’re a bit bossy because it tells the
listener to do the certain thing immediately. How
about in request?”

“Very good. So for example, you will be asking “Negative Ma’am! Because it uses ‘don’t’
money from your parents for your fieldtrip. Are you which is a negative verb.”
going to use command or request? Why?”
“Yes Ma’am!”

“Very well said. If you try to tell your parents, “Give “Pick up the trashes in the backyard.”
me a money!” it is impossible for you to get a money
right? Because for sure, your parents will get mad at
you, or worse they won’t let you join the fieldtrip.” “Don’t run across the street!”

“So how will you properly ask for a money to your

parents?”

“Very good! So you will just use and say it in a

request for.”

“So when we are constructing an imperative

sentences, we must always use imperative verbs.
Most especially if it’s in a command form . Kindly
read the meaning of Imperative Verb.”

“Thank you. We usually use imperative verbs in our

instructions right? Like for example when we are “No Ma’am / Yes Ma’am!”
giving a command, ‘Get a glass of water’. The word
‘get’ is a verb. It used to describe an action.”

“There are two types of imperative verb. The

affirmative and negative verbs. Kindly read the
meaning of affirmative and negative verb” “on the table, Ma’am!”

“Affirmative starts with the base form of a verb, “The word on Ma’am! Because it gives the
while the negative verb is made with do not or don’t. location where will the books be placed”
So you can easily figure out the difference right?
Most especially if it’s a negative verb.”

“For example in the activity #2. This is an example of

imperative sentence right? Because it ends with a
period and it gives command”

“Is it an affirmative or negative? Why?”

“in the oven Ma’am!”

“Very good. Let’s give another example. ‘Don’t go in
my mom’s room.”

“Is it a positive or a negative? Why?”

“Don’t sit on my chair.”

“Thank you, good answer. So have you understand
the two types of imperative verb?”

“Now, give your own example of an imperative

sentence that has an affirmative verb.” “On Ma’am!”

“Very good. Next, give your own example of an “Throw the crumpled paper in the trash can.”
imperative sentence that has a negative verb.”
PREPOSITION OF: EXAMPLE:

“So aside from an imperative sentences have an

imperative verb at the beginning of the sentence, it
also needs to have a Prepositions.”

“Are you familiar with prepositions?”

“Prepositions show directions, location, or time, or

introduce an object.”
“Let’s give an example”
’Put these books on the table.’ “Where will the “Letter C, Ma’am! Laptop can’t be placed at
books be placed?” the restroom, because it might get wet. And
also, laptop doesn’t fit on your wallet.”
“What do you think is the prepositional word here?
Why?”

“Good answer. Prepositions will serve as a guide to “No Ma’am! Because there is no specific
your imperative sentence, in which you can be able place given to find the keys.”
to identify where or what specifically you are about
to do.”

“Another examples of prepositional words are, in,

on and at.”
“Yes Ma’am! Because he already dictated the
“Another example of imperative sentence that has a specific place where I could possibly find the
prepositional word is ‘Bake the cookies in the oven.’ keys.”
Where will the cookies be baked?”

“Very good. So it uses the word in.”

“Now, kindly give your own imperative sentence that

has a prepositional word, Mr. Corpuz. You can use
negative and affirmative verb at the beginning of
your sentence.”

“What preposition did Mr. Corpuz used?”

“Very good. Give another example, Ms. Inaanuran.”

“Thank you. So Ms. Inaanuran used the prepositional

word in.”

“Here’s the other set of prepositional words.”

“Kindly read, Mr. Catubay.”

“How about the preposition at? Preposition at

shows specific place. For example, at my house, at
school, at canteen. So now, kindly give an example.”

“Thank you.”

“Okay, so let’s complete this imperative sentence by

adding preposition. ‘Get my laptop __________.’”
a. on my wallet
b. at the restroom
c. in my bag

“What could be the possible or correct answer?

Why?”

“Very good!”

“I will give you another example. Your dad is on a

rush, and he needs to get to work immediately.
Because his boss told him that there’s an emergency
at his workplace. Your dad asks you, “Get the keys!”
and you immediately run inside your house, without
knowing where specifically the keys are. Will you be
able to find it? Why?”

“Okay, good answer. How about when your father

tells you, “Get the keys in my cabinet!” do you think
you can be able to get it now?”

“Very good!”

“For prepositions, it gives us a precise place or time

and direction for our command or requests.”

“Now, do you have any questions?”

“Okay, now let’s have another activity.”

E. PRACTICE

Read the group activity assigned to your group. Talk
about it and write in a Cartolina paper.”
