SCHEDULE UNIT SHUT DOWN SEQUENCE ACTIVITIES.

1. Intimate ECR during Schedule shutdown of Unit beforehand.


2. MCR should be in communication with ECR at the time of
Desynchronisation.
3. Trip the Unit
4. Check whether Stop valves and Control valves have closed
5. Check that GCB and Field Breaker has OPENED
6. Check SPEED of machine is FALLING from GRID frequency speed
or not.
7. Double check for any Lead MVAR
If Turbine speed is falling and there is No Lead MVAR System has
been Normally shut down.
8. In case ,GCB does NOT open , Give OPEN command to GCB from
DCS(Unit#8 only, in U#7 there is no option) .If that FAILS, then ECR
should undertake force shutdown of 220KV Main Bus where GCB is
connected after decoupling it from Feeders.
9. MCR should Prepare for Total Power Failure( start Dc equipments
etc).

If GCB does NOT OPEN

1. Give OPEN command to GCB from DCS for U#8 only


2. If that FAILS , then following Procedure to be adopted by ECR , DPL
to avoid motoring of Generator 7 / Generator 8-----

Generator 7

Disconnect 160 MVA Auto 1, 160 MVA Auto 2, 100 MVA Auto,
Interconnector 1 and Interconnector 2.
All the above mentioned operation can be done from unit 7&8 switch-yard
control room.
Generator 8

Case 1

Generator 8 is on one Main Bus (M1 or M2) & all other equipments in the
other bus (normal operating condition)

Open Bus Coupler Breaker.

Case 2

All equipments including Generator 8 are distributed among two buses

Open BUS coupler and Feeders connected with Generator 8 BUS(M1 or


M2)
