Subject: Discontinuation of Pilot Project on Electronic lndian Postal Order


(elPO) - reg.

A decision has been taken to discontinue the Pilot Project of elPO Service
for denominations of Rs. 1 01, Rs. 20l-, Rs. 50/- & Rs. 100/- in Bihar, Delhi &
Karnataka Circles, with effect from 10.10.2019.

2. lt is further decided that initially the booking of elPO will be discontinued but
encashment facility will be continued till all the pending elPOs for payment are
encashed or encashment period is over, whichever is earlier. Thereafter, the pilot
project will be discontinued completely.

2. Hence, no elPO under Pilot Project will be booked after 10.10.20'19.


Besides, once all the pending elPOs are encashed, the same may be brought to
the notice of this office immediately so that the encashment facility may also be
discontinued.

3. lt is further clarified that these orders will have no effect on elPO Service of
denomination of Rs. 1olfor RTI purpose, which is in existence since 2013.

4. Kindly bring it to the notice of all concerned field units under your jurisdiction
for implementation.

5. This issues with the approval of Secretary (Posts).
