General Overview of Arc-GIS

Arc-GIS is a geographic information system that allows users to collect, store, manage, analyze and visualize large datasets with spatial relationships to better understand patterns and make informed decisions. As a GIS, Arc-GIS deals specifically with geospatial data like location points and polygon shapes to manipulate spatial data layers and produce maps, distinguishing it from traditional cartography and data management systems.

General overview of Arc-GIS:

A geographic information system is a computer system that helps users to collect, process,
edit, store, manage, share, analyze, model and visualize large volumes of datasets to
understand spatial relationships, patterns and trends so that one can make quick, easy,
educated and sound decisions. The two key words in this name, “Geographic and
information” make this software a unique technology which is different in many ways from
other traditional cartographic mapping and data management system and applications.
Geographic also known as geospatial or spatial is indicator of the thing that GIS mainly deals
with spatial data features which are in one way or another references to locations on earth
such as sampling location points, utility lines and land parcel polygon. By manipulating
spatial data layers also known as themes, GIS can produce maps like other mapping system
such as computer aided design and drafting system (CADD)
