Summary, Conclusions and Recommendations

This study aimed to analyze the potential of pomelo (Citrus maxima) peels as an alternative fertilizer on tomato plants. The study found no significant difference in stem length between plants treated with fresh pomelo peels and those treated with commercial fertilizer. Both treatments were equally effective as fertilizers for tomato plants based on experimental results. The study concluded that pomelo peels have potential to be recommended as an alternative fertilizer.

Chapter IV

SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This chapter presents a summary of the experimental study,

the drawn conclusion and the suggested recommendation.

Summary

This study aimed to analyze and determine the potential of

pomelo (Citrus maxima) peels as an alternative fertilizer.

In the study, experimental method of research was utilized

focused on the use of standard laboratory diagnostic procedures

showed the ability of Citrus maxima in terms of the length of

stem. This study utilized the experimental method of research

focused on the effectiveness in terms of length of stem of tomato

plants upon the application of treatment used.

This study was conducted at Barangay San Benito Norte,

Aringay, La Union from November 2018 from February 2019.

Harvesting of the pomelo peels were done at Barangay San Benito

Norte, Aringay, La Union.

The methods used were collection and preparation of plant

material and soil, the preparation of pomelo (Citrus maxima)

peels, and the application of the various substances to the

tomato plants.

Specifically, this study is tested if there is a

significance difference among the various treatments, which is T 1

(fresh pomelo peels) and T2 (commercial fertilizer). No additives

were added upon the application of the pomelo peels during the

experiment.

The data gathered were tabulated and computed using

statistical tool, T-test, to determine the existence of

significant difference in the length of stem of tomato plants

among the two treatments.

The results showed that there is no significant difference

in the length of stem of the tomato plants. The data gathered

showed that the pomelo peels garnered the highest mean, 13.74 cm,

followed by the commercial fertilizer, 12.96 cm. The results

revealed that Treatment 1 (Pomelo peelings) has the fastest

growth after two weeks followed by commercial fertilizer. The

data showed that pomelo peels has the potential to become an

alternative fertilizer to tomato plants.

The T-test is used to compare the means of the two

treatments used presented in table 3. The T-test revealed that

there is no significant difference between the pomelo peels and

19
the commercial fertilizer. This implies that the pomelo peels is

as equally effective as the commercial fertilizer.

Conclusions

Within the limits of the study, the following conclusions

were drawn.

1. The pomelo (Citrus maxima) peels, as an alternative

fertilizer, is effective in tomato plants.

2. The pomelo (Citrus maxima) peels, the alternative

fertilizer, and the commercial fertilizer (Harvester) are equally

effective as fertilizers to tomato plants.

Recommendations

According to the result of the study, the following

recommendations were offered:

1. The usage of C. maxima peels as an alternative fertilizer

to tomato plants is recommended by the researchers basing in the

results showed in the study.

2. Further studies should utilize the same preparations of

C. maxima to investigate its effects on other plants, as well.

3. The potential of C. maxima as an alternative fertilizer

was found out hence, the patenting of the product is recommended.
