Classification of Human Behavior

Factors that influence human behavior include heredity and environment. Heredity refers to the transmission of traits from parents to offspring, while environment includes all external factors that can shape a person's development and behavior. There are several classifications of human behavior. Habitual behaviors are performed routinely, while instinctive behaviors are inborn. Symbolic behaviors involve responding to symbols or stimuli. Complex behaviors incorporate multiple habitual behaviors in one situation. Simple behaviors involve fewer neural connections than complex behaviors. Voluntary behaviors are consciously chosen while involuntary behaviors occur without conscious control. Human behaviors can also be classified as overt or covert, normal or abnormal, conscious or unconscious, rational or irrational, and criminal. Overt behaviors are observable while
