Wirecrete System Presentation PDF

The document discusses Wirecrete, a building system that uses welded steel wire beams to form lightweight wall panels. The wire beams range from 50-200mm wide and are assembled into panels on site according to a framing plan. The wall panels are then installed and connected to the foundation slab. Various lightweight concrete mixes are poured into the wire beam panels to form the walls. The wirecrete system allows for fast, lightweight construction without heavy equipment.

WIRECRETE

Wire Beam Fabrication

• The Wire Beams are made of 4.5mm
diameter steel wire with a tensile
strength of 780 Mpa (113,000 Psi) or
900 Mpa (130,000Psi), formed and
welded to achieve the required
shape.
• The width of the beam can vary from
50mm up to 200mm depending on
the thickness of the wall.
• The Wire Beam is light weight, 0.640
Kg per linear meter and can be hand
carried.
Design with Wire Beams
A wall framing plan is produced for each
wall of the building. It indicates the
numbers, length and location of each
beam. The Vertical beams are
identified by a letter and the
Horizontal by a number.
Wall Panel Assembly
Upon delivery to site the Wire Beams are
assembled into wall panels using the framing
plan indicated in 3 above. For each wall a
pattern in actual size is prepared. The Vertical
Beams are 1st positioned in the pattern, the
Horizontal Beams are introduced at the designated
location, locked in place and welded. The
standard productivity is 4 panels per day per
pattern (more in case of small walls such as T&B). If
all patterns of a house are used at the same
time this corresponds to 4 houses per day. The
production rate can be increased by adding patterns
hence 2 patterns per wall will produce about 8
houses per day.
Installation
The wall panels are installed and
connected to the slab by a base plate at
each corner and to the dowels protruding
from the slab. The squareness and
plumbness of the wall panels is adjusted
before connecting the panels together
using welded connectors. Upon
installation of wall panels all electrical,
plumbing roughing in and eventually
door jambs are positioned within the
panels. Depending on its size it takes 2 to
4 hours to install all panels of a housing unit
without need for lifting equipment. The
construction rate can be adjusted to project
requirement.
Concrete Mixes
Various types of EPS based light weight concrete are available with densities
ranging from 1,000 to 1,700 kg per cubic meter and compressive strength
from 900 to 3,500 Psi.
The light weight concrete provides.
- Better thermal comfort and sound proofing
- Higher fire rating
- Better water proofing
- Lower electrical consumption when using A/C
The light weight concrete reduces the dead weight of the building, hence, a
lower cost for the building frame and the foundation.
Formworks
The concrete is cast in place
in climbing formworks. For
small projects Phenolic Board
can be used to fabricate the
forms. For larger projects
Composite Panels are
recommended as they can be
used more than 150 times
and do not require
maintenance and form oil.
