Every year a big contest is taking place in Europe called: ‘The Eurovision Song Contest’.
Countries from Europe and Australia can participate, and chose one person who makes a
song and performs it on a stage. Most of the people, just like me, have always been a fan
and love to see and listen to all performance and songs. But the Eurovision Song Contest was
not the same in 1956 as now! A lot of changes happened. The Eurovision Song Contest takes
place for already a long time. How did the Eurovision Song Contest came into existence?
Every year Eurovision countries and Australia come together. But does the Eurovision Song
Contest helps to unify participating countries?
So how did the Eurovision Song Contest came into existence? In 1956 wanted the
Frenchman, Marcel Baison, to organize something. An additional thought was that through
music the countries would be intertwined in post-war Europe. So on the 24 th of May, the first
Eurovision Song Contest took place. The first time, in 1956, only 7 countries participated on a
small stage. So over the years, a lot of things changed in the Eurovision Song contest. For
instance, technical improvements took place, like better microphones, a bigger stage with a
lot of lamps and a lot of more improvements. New countries, like Australia, were also
allowed to participate. Also the appearance changed. In the beginning, won the country
which had the best song. Nowadays, most of the time the country wins which has the best
performance. So over the years the Eurovision Song contest changed and became bigger and
bigger. The Eurovision Song Contest unify countries because we all watch and share the
content. We have to organize something and work together but also for instance in the same
language. This made all the countries in Europe work well together and enjoy the same
adventure.
So the Eurovision Song Contest came into existence to unify, through music, countries in
post-war Europe. It also means a lot to the Netherlands, because it unifies us to other
countries and like this, friends are made. A lot of changes happened and that influenced a
lot. Also the performance. But the Eurovision Song contest unify us Europe, because we all
have to work together and share the same adventure!
