HW-1: What Is The Difference Between Termination and Separation? Answer

Employment separation occurs when the employment contract ends voluntarily or involuntarily, while employee termination refers specifically to an employee being released against their will, usually due to poor performance or lack of work. A separated employee leaves for any reason, whether voluntary or involuntary, whereas a terminated employee is involuntarily let go by their employer. The key difference is that separation can be voluntary or involuntary, but termination is always involuntary on the part of the employee.
