Eg - Unit - 5 Assignment Question

This document contains 5 engineering graphics assignment questions involving the cutting of various 3D shapes and drawing their remaining portions or perspective views. The shapes include a cone, pentagonal pyramid, square prism, hexagonal pyramid, and hexagonal prism. Each question provides the dimensions and orientation of the shape, along with instructions to draw the isometric or perspective view of the resulting cut portion.

Unit -5 Assignment Question

1. A cone of base diameter 50 mm and height 70 mm stands on HP with its base. It is cut by a cutting plane
inclined at 30o to HP and perpendicular to VP, cutting the axis of the cone at a height of 40 mm from its
base. Draw the isometric view of the remaining part of the cone.

2. A pentagonal pyramid of base side 30 mm and axis length 65 mm is resting on its base with a side
of base perpendicular to VP. It is cut by a plane perpendicular to VP and inclined at 30o to HP. The cutting
plane passes through a point at a distance of 30 mm from the apex. Draw the isometric view of the
remaining portion of the pyramid.

3. A Square prism, side of base 40 mm and height 60 mm rests with its base on the ground such that one of
its rectangular faces is parallel to and 10 mm behind the pp. The station point is 30 mm in front of pp, 80
mm above the ground plane and lies in a central plane 45 mm to the right of the center of the prism. Draw
the perspective projection of the square prism.

4. A hexagonal pyramid with the edge of base 40mm and axis 70mm long is resting on its base on HP. One
of the base edges of the pyramid is perpendicular to VP. A sectional plane perpendicular to VP and inclined
to HP at 30o, passes through the axis at a height of 30mm from the base. Draw the isometric projection of
the remaining part of the solid.

5. Draw the perspective view of hexagonal prism of base side 20mm and height 40mm when it rests on its
base on the ground plane with one of its rectangular face parallel to and 20 mm behind the picture plane.
The station point is 45 mm infront of PP and 60 mm above the GP. The observer is 20mm to the left of the
axis.
