Week012–ANOVA
Laboratory Exercise 007
Objective/s:
At the end of this activity, you should be able to:
Perform statistical computation using ANOVA
Run ANOVA
Interpret the result
Procedure:
1. Encode the table in excel in a continuous manner
A travel industry magazine received several reports from international travelers about the
quality of in-flight service on various carriers from the United States to Europe. Before writing
a feature story, the magazine decided to get the services of a researcher to study the
perspectives and reactions of travelers. The researcher selected passengers who had current
impressions of the meal service, comfort, and friendliness of a major carrier. Three airlines
were chosen and 20 passengers were selected for each airline. The respondents were
requested to rate the services of the airlines. This is known as Rating 1. After sometime, the
same respondents were again asked if there was an improvement in the services provided by
the airline companies. This is labeled as Rating 2. The following codes were used:

2. Compute the difference in the ratings of the services among the three airlines using ANOVA
3. Follow the sequence of procedure using SPSS software to get the value
Analyze → Compare Means → One Way ANOVA → Transfer in Dependent list the DV and in
the Factor the IV → Post Hoc → tick Scheffe → Continue → Ok
4. To determine the difference between and among, use Sheffe
Note that the level of significance determines if there is significant difference between and
among the variables or not. If the significant level is 0.05, any value less than or equal to 0.05
means that there is significant difference between variables
