Egypt) ) : Decreased Agricultural Land in Beni Suef

- The document describes a study analyzing land cover changes over 4 years in Beni Suef, Egypt using Landsat satellite images from 2014 and 2018. - The images were classified into 4 categories: urban, agriculture, desert, and water. Tabulating the areas showed agriculture areas decreased by 77,088 acres between 2014 and 2018, while urban and desert areas increased. - The results of the study can inform policymaking and education by providing data on how agricultural land is being converted to urban and impervious surfaces, and how populations are shifting over time.

Decreased agricultural land in Beni Suef

Objectives
The goal of our project was to describe land cover changes that have
occurred in the baniswef, included parts of alfashn, biba counties and
some villages. over the last 4 years. Our objectives were to provide
statistical data about the land use change, provide visuals to help with
.the understanding of this change, provide a basic analysis of this data

There are many different applications for a study similar to this one.
Most of the applications are for use in science, policy-making, and
education. Information acquired from a study like this could be used to
assess the amount of agricultural land that has been converted to urban
land. This might be useful in for studying impacts of urbanization on
food production capacities. Another application could be to find out
how much land is being converted to impervious surfaces. This could be
important in hydrological studies to estimate the increase in runoff and
the associated influence on water quality. Information gained in this
report could also be used in population studies. It could be used to
establish where populations are increasing which might be useful for
making policy decisions. Images showing land cover change in the
baniswef city could also be used as an aid in education or in further
. scientific studies
Materials and Tools
For our change detection process we used two
images of the same area . They are all Landsat 8
images. The images were acquired 2014/05/25 ,
