Answer one question from this section. Write a composition on one of the
following topics. Your answer should be about 350 – 450 words in length.

1. Describe a mountain or building which you think is beautiful. [30]

2. Write a story which ends with one of the following statements:

Either (a) She stood up, threw the books away and stormed
out of the room. [30]

Or (b) Even today, no one knows what happened to him. [30]

N.B. YOU WILL BE PENALIZED IF YOU REPEAT A STORY


WHICH YOU HAVE ENCOUNTERED ELSEWHERE.

3. Night sounds. [30]

4. Everybody must study Science and Mathematics at school to help


solve the problems of underdevelopment. Do you agree? [30]

5. Write about an occasion when the wrong pupil in your class was
praised and rewarded. [30]

6. What, in your opinion, should people in your community do to control


the spread of AIDS? [30]

7. Describe a situation when you were happy and excited but afraid at
the same time. [30]
Section B

Answer the following question. Begin your answer on a fresh page. You
should spend not more than 40 minutes on this section.

8. Imagine you are the Headmaster of Mbiri Day Secondary School.


Write a report on the school’s enrolment as shown below for the
consideration of the Regional Director of Education and culture.
Suggest various possible reasons for the changes in the enrolment
figures and what might be done to improve the enrolment.

N.B. In the report, avoid the use of figures except for dates.
