Evolution of Telephone
Evolution of Telephone
"The telephone gives us the happiness of being together yet safely apart," as
stated by Mason Cooley. The telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell, an
American Physicist. Throughout history, telephone is the most significant technology, it
has made communication easier and has led to other great, effective means of
communication. A telephone transmits speech, usually a voice, over long distances
through electronic signals. Over the years, the evolution of telephone changed.
Developments in tone dialing, call tracing, on hold audio, and electronic ringers have
changed the telephone greatly.
First, we can see the telephone has a bulky shape in 1885. It is the known for
Wall Set. The device’s purpose may either be used to talk or listen, without moving the
device from mouth to ear. Around the year 1920, a rotary dial telephone replaced the
Wall Set. It is easy unlike the first telephone. The ringer is in the phone, the cradle lies
horizontally, and you are talking and listening to the same thing that lies on the top. A
single phone like this had prominent disk or dial button on the front. This telephone is
smaller than the first one, and it has also nine to ten holes along the inside edge of the
dial. Each of the holes corresponds to a number, and letters from 0-9 in some cases. In
the year 1965, the rotary dial phone became smaller. Going to the year 1985, the rotary
dial phone replaced by a push-button telephone. This has the same feature but instead,
a push-button dial replaces rotary dial. The model's shape is square, it is connected to
wires and it has become smaller. In the year 1990, the telephones this year became
portable or wireless. You can carry it anywhere but putting it in your pocket is
impossible because it is heavy and big. In the year 2000, the phones became practical
in size. Most of this year’s phones have a webcam, and you can quickly send
messages. The telephone designs have become trendy and stylish. Mobile phones in
the year 2015 until now have become smaller, more powerful, and very useful. This
mobile phone is touch screen, has a good camera quality, and is user friendly. The
design, usefulness and function of the phones in this year make our lives better than
ever before besides of making our communication routine easier. We can be in touch
with those we need to reach, whether personal or work-related in nature. We can send
files almost everywhere. We can buy stuffs using this smartphone.
Traditional tools and processes are being replaced by advanced technology
designed to make the design process simpler, faster and often more innovation.
Therefore, it is not impossible to build or invent a smartphone or mobile phone that has
holographic displays flexible frames or eco-friendly, due to the development of
technology or telephone over the decades. The mobile phones of the future are
expected to be more closely embedded in our day-to-day lives than ever before. So,
let’s make good use of our technology that can make us innovative and creative. Be in
control of your phone, don't let it keep you under control you.
