THE MEANING AND PURPOSE OF PROPHETIC EVANGELISM

Apostle Simba Makonese

What is Prophetic Evangelism?

Prophetic Evangelism is simply sharing the good news by the Spirit of God. Prophecy is
from the Hebrew ‘naba’ and Greek ‘prophetes’ which both mean to ‘bubble forth with
words as water coming out of a spring.’ To prophesy is to simply allow the Holy Spirit
in you to speak words through your mouth. The church is yet to be taught about the
‘prophethood’ of all believers. All believers are prophets (God’s speakers) because they
have received the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit in the new birth. Num 11:29
(CEV), “But Moses replied, "Are you concerned what this might do to me? I wish the LORD
would give his Spirit to all his people so everyone could be a prophet," and Eze 36:26-27
says, “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take
away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put
my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments,
and do them.” Evangelism (from Greek ‘euagellion’ – good news) is the sharing of the
good news of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ’s finished works of redemption.

Why Prophetic Evangelism?

It is the main purpose why God released His Holy Spirit on humanity. The job of the
Holy Spirit it WITNESS the good news of salvation to the believer, and through the
believer unto others. The indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit received at salvation
witnesses the assurance of his own salvation to the believer, and reveals to him the
false prophets who are not saved.

Rom 8:16 (ESV) says, “The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are
children of God,”

And 1Jn 2:26-27 (ESV) says, “I write these things to you about those who are trying to
deceive you. But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have
no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about
everything, and is true, and is no lie--just as it has taught you, abide in him.”

In other words each believer is his own prophets and needs to be trained to listen to his
own spirit without depending on others. The outward presence of the Holy Spirit comes
upon the believer in the baptism of the Holy Spirit to make him a witness of the Good
News to others.

Act 1:8, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and
ye shall be WITNESSES UNTO ME both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in
Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

Prophetic evangelism serves the purpose of proving the reality of God to the carnal
unbeliever, so that he may come to the saving knowledge of Christ Jesus.

1Co 14:24-25 (BBE) says, “But if all are teaching as prophets, and a man without faith
or knowledge comes in, he is tested by all, he is judged by all; The secrets of his heart
are made clear; and he will go down on his face and give worship to God, saying that
God is truly among you.”

If anyone who operates in the ‘prophetic’ is not witnessing the good news of Jesus
Christ the Nazarene who came in the flesh and died on the cross, then mark such one
as a false prophet.

1Jn 4:1-3 says, “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of
God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the
Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of
God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of
God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and
even now already is it in the world.”

If a prophet or an angel wants to be worshipped he is false because the testimony of

Jesus Christ is the Spirit of prophecy!
Gal 1:8 (GNB) says, “But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a
gospel that is different from the one we preached to you, may he be condemned to
hell!”

And Rev 19:10 says, “And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See
thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of
Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

PATTERNS OF PROPHETIC EVANGELISM

Apostle Simba Makonese

Joel prophesied that whoever calls upon Jesus’s name in these end times will be saved.
Joel 2:32 says, “It shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall
be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, as the Lord
has said, among the remnant whom the Lord calls.” Being saved has several distinct
levels in scripture. First, we are saved in the sense of receiving remission of sins when
being born again. Second, we are saved, or protected from physical death in relation to
end time disasters promised in Psa 91. Third, we are saved in the sense that God will
provide the things necessary for life such as food and water as Old Israel experienced
provision and protection in Goshen (Exo 8:22–23; 9:4, 6, 26). Fourth, we are saved as
we walk in God’s saving power that we might enter into our full destiny. In other
words, we are delivered from spiritual barrenness and powerlessness. Fifth, we are
saved by being protected from deception and from falling away from our faith (1Tim
4:1–2). And we shall be saved in our bodies by receiving new immortal bodies at the
final resurrection of the dead and the rapture of the saints as the Lord returns (Rom
8:23, 1Cor 15:51-58). Get ready. An unmatched revival is at hand in which all believers
will experience dreams, visions, and everything Joel prophesied. In this lesson we are
going to briefly analyze the different prophetic patterns of the end time prophetic
evangelism.

The Isaiah Pattern: Ministry Sequence of the Outpouring of the Holy Spirit
Isa 28:9-13 says, “Whom shall he teach knowledge? And whom shall he make to
understand doctrine? Them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the
breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line
upon line; here a little, and there a little: For with stammering lips and another tongue
will he speak to this people. To whom he said, ‘This is the rest wherewith ye may cause
the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing’: yet they would not hear. But the word of
the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line,
line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward,
and be broken, and snared, and taken.”

This revelation of the end time revival pattern came to me from the Lord in 2007 as I
had just finished writing a book titled ‘The Prophetic Destiny of the Great Zimbabwe’.
Isaiah prophesied that the Holy Spirit would bring revelation of the Word of God
exclusively to Spirit-filled believers through gifts of the Spirit namely prophecy and the
interpretation of unknown tongues in this great end time revival (the rest and
refreshing). Isaiah further reveals that revelation of the doctrine of the Word of God by
the Holy Spirit would come bit by bit in this sequence: precept upon precept and line
upon line. What does this mean? The word precept is made up the prefix ‘pre’ which
means before and the word ‘cept’ which means idea or notion as in ‘concept’. The
Hebrew word translated precept here means a commandment. So we can conclude that
a precept is a commandment that is given before a main idea as its introduction. The
Hebrew word translated line in English is qav; which implies a cord (as connecting),
especially for measuring; and figuratively means, a rule; rim, musical string or accord.
Therefore a line is the standard, flowing and ruling message that conveys the main idea
in detail in connection with the introductory precept. Now when we link the meanings
of the two words with biblical history we notice that it is always the prophetic office
that preaches the preceptory message to introduce the main line message unveiled
through the teaching function of the apostolic office as these two offices lay the
foundation of the church. For example: John the Baptist as a prophet preached the
preceptory message introducing the kingdom era saying. ‘Repent for the kingdom of
heaven is at hand!’ while Jesus the Christ expounded on the line/main idea of the
kingdom message as He taught through many parables. It is therefore dangerous to
settle in a ministry led by the office of a prophet, and not by an apostle. The prophetic
grace ends only in the introductory teachings of the Gospel, and often when a prophet
tries to teach the main doctrine he will wind up in teaching heresy.

The Ezekiel Pattern: An All-Inclusive Apostolic Movement

Eze 1:4-10, 15-21 says, “And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north,
a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the
midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire. Also out of the midst
thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they
had the likeness of a man. And every one had four faces, and everyone had four wings.
And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's
foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass. And they had the hands of a
man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their
wings. Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they
went every one straight forward. As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the
face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an
ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle… Now as I beheld the living
creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.
The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and
they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel
in the middle of a wheel. When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they
turned not when they went. As for their rings, they were so high that they were
dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four. And when the living
creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up
from the earth, the wheels were lifted up. Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they
went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them:
for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels. When those went, these went;
and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the
wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the
wheels.”

Eph 4:8-12 says, “Wherefore he saith, when he ascended up on high, he led captivity
captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also
descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also
that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) And he gave
some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and
teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying
of the body of Christ.”

And 1Cor 12:28 says, “And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily
prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps,
governments, diversities of tongue (evangelists).”

During a fast of three days and nights in December of 2012, the Lord put in my spirit
revelations which He said would take about 100 years to be unveiled and grasped by
my mind, and this Ezekiel pattern is one of them. Now if you follow the way I have
highlighted this text you will notice how theologians have wrongly interpreted it to
come up with the so-called’ five-fold ministry. While revealing their spiritual order,
Paul clearly outlined these four offices as:

1. Apostles,

2. Prophets,

3. Evangelists, and finally

4. Pastors and Teachers.

Coming back to our main text we see that these four offices revealed in the New
Testament by Paul the apostle correspond with the faces on each of the four living
creatures seen by Ezekiel the prophet namely the lion, man, ox and eagle; and also
with the four cardinal directions of which Ezekiel mentions one.as illustrated in the
Table below:
THE FOUR MINISTRY OFFICES, LIVING CREATURES & CARDINAL DIRECTIONS

Apostle – the first and governing ministry office in the church is the apostle. The
apostle is the lion which governs the jungle. The lion is the kingly creature which Jesus
Christ of Nazareth identifies with as the “Lion of the tribe of Judah”. This matches with
the apostle and the north as the first, chief and director. The North is the chief side of
direction which fully represents all directions. Once you find your north on the campus
you can determine the rest. It is the direction that properly gives direction to other
directions.

Prophet – the second, guiding and introducing ministry office in the church is the
prophet. The eagle is a creature of accurate vision reputed for unique ability to fly at
dawn in the heavens facing the sun unlike other birds. This matches with the prophet
and the east as the introducer of new enlightenment. The east is the side from where
the sun rises and a new day begins. Wise men from the East first knew about the birth
of Jesus Christ (who is the Bright Morning Star and Sun of Righteousness) when they
saw His Star in the East.

Pastor-Teacher – the third and grounding ministry office in the church is of the pastor-
teacher. Man is the shepherd of sheep and this matches with office of a pastor-teacher
and the direction West. The Shepherds in the West (Bethlehem) heard about the birth
of Christ just a few moments before the time through an angel. The West is the
opposite end side of the east where the sun sets, and where clouds condense before
pouring out showers of rain (Luk 12:54). The pastor-teacher is the one who catches the
revelation of Christ in the sunset of the revival season just before the revelation
materializes in its peak.

Evangelist – the fourth and gathering ministry office in the church is of the evangelist.
The ox is the creature which treads the corn during harvest and this links well with the
work of the evangelist and the south direction. The south is the opposite end side of the
north whose wind is followed by great heat (Luk 12:55). The evangelist is the one to
gather souls into the kingdom just before the great heat of God’s wrath is revealed in
judgement.
Having established these realities we can now understand and interpret the Ezekiel
prophecy more accurately as thus:

1. A whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself:
The prophet here saw the end time apostolic wave or move of the Holy Spirit as a
whirlwind coming out of the north (the apostolic direction). The whirlwind in scripture
is usually a sign of the visible presence of God in the form of the Holy Spirit (2 Kgs
2:11, Job 38:1, 40:6, Psa 77:18, & Isa 66:15).

2. Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And
this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man. And every one had
four faces…
The prophet here saw each of the four living creatures having all of the four faces,
which implies that the apostolic wave is inclusive of all other office graces. The same
prophet Ezekiel later saw the same vision of the living creatures where he got further
revelation that they are cherubs in chapter 10. In the tabernacle of Moses which is a
type of God’s tabernacle in heaven, there were two cherubim sculptures which were
made looking into the most holy place - the mercy seat, just as the four heavenly
cherubim are beholding the glory of the Godhead in His fullness. By the mirror
principle of the Word of God we understand that as the four cherubim looked with an
open face into the glory, they got transformed into the same image from one glory to
another, until they reflected all the four glories of the Godhead (2Cor 3:18). By this we
are made to understand in the Ezekiel prophecy that the church institution is an
ongoing educational program in which her members are being moulded into the perfect
and full image of Christ the Head of the church from one office glory to another,
starting off as evangelists in the Great Commission, through the pastoral and prophetic
dimensions until we all can practice the Word of God in the all-inclusive apostolic
office (Eph 4:11-13, Gal 4:19, & Jas 1:23-25). Only and until that happens will then
Christ come back to take His Bride to be with Him forever into the coming age. Can
you imagine how glorious this end time revival is going to be like?
3. Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the
living creatures… When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they
turned not when they went:
The prophet here saw that each of the four offices would have its season to be
dominant in the end times as revealed in the fact that the living creatures did not turn
when they went upon each of the four sides, and also that each creature had a wheel
which. The Living Bible describes the wheels as thus; ‘As I stared at all this, I saw four
wheels on the ground beneath them, one wheel belonging to each. The wheels looked
as if they were made of polished amber and each wheel was constructed with a second
wheel crosswise inside. They could go in any of the four directions without having to
face around. The four wheels had rims, spokes, and rims were filled with eyes around
their edges’ (Eze 1:15-18). The wheel represents the ‘Spirit of Revolution’, and the
Jesus Christ is pioneering a kingdom revolution in the world from Zimbabwe towards
completion and perfection. From the principle of the wheel and revolution we find the
concept of time. The clock with its minute and hour hands show us a wheel within
another wheel and the hands are parallel to the spokes described by Ezekiel, while the
edge round the clock is parallel to the rim and the markings of the minutes and hours
around the rim of the clock are parallel to the eyes which Ezekiel saw. Revolution
always comes at an appointed time, so this school has come at a time when God wants
to bring a complete apostolic revolution to the world system in our generation.

4. Whithersoever the Spirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go;
and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living
creature was in the wheels. When those went, these went; and when those stood,
these stood:
The prophet here saw that each of the four offices would be dominant in its season as
determined by the Holy Spirit as indicated that the living creatures followed their spirit
followed the Spirit, and that each office would literally possess its season as indicated
that the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels. Also note that all living
creatures moved in harmony, which implies that the true apostles, prophets, pastor-
teachers and evangelists of Christ Jesus will never clash with each other in their
ministries as they are led by the same Holy Spirit. This is what we can expect in this
last and greatest end time prophetic revival!
