SPT N Value To E Modulus - 1

This document provides methods to estimate the elastic modulus of different soil types based on standard penetration test (SPT) N-values or cone penetration resistance (qc). Elastic modulus can be estimated as 500(N+15) for normally consolidated sand from SPT N-values, and 2 to 4qc for sand based on cone penetration resistance. It also lists elastic modulus estimation methods for other soil types like saturated sand, over consolidated sand, gravelly sand, clayey sand, and silty sand. However, it notes that SPT values can vary by about 45% and correlations may have significant uncertainty.

Elastic modulus can be estimated using SPT 'N' value or based static cone penetration

resistance (qc)
Sand (Normally consolidated) E = 500(N+15) or E = 2 to 4qc
sand(saturated) E = 250(N+15), sand(over consolidated), E = 6 to 30qc
gravelly sand E = 1200(N+6)
clayey sand E=320(N+15)
silty sand E=300(N+6)

However, you may consider that the variability of an SPT is about 45% and the
uncertanty in the correlations can also be significant.
