1. The scope of the study is the drainage system for Mahar Myaing (2) quarter in Mahar Aung Myay township over a 30 year design life. Surface drainage will be considered using Manning's equation to determine hydraulic sections. 2. Mahar Myaing (2) quarter has an area of 1.23 square km with 2174 houses and a population of 11254 people. Wastewater is disposed into nearby channels. 3. The study is composed of 5 chapters that introduce the objectives and scope, provide a literature review, discuss data preparation, and analyze and design the drainage system with conclusions and recommendations.

The scope of the study is as follows:
(1) Combined system is considered for the drainage system of Mahar Myaing (2)
quarter, in Mahar Aung Myay township.
(2) Design life is taken as 30 years.
(3) The design of drainage system is surface drainage (or) ditch.
(4) Water consumption per capita daily is used as 45 gal/cap-day and return flow
is taken as 90% of water consumption per capita daily ( 40 gal/cap-day ).

(5) Geometrical increase method is applied for determining the quantity of
population.
(6) Manning’s equation is applied for determining the hydraulic sections.

1.4. Information of the Study Area


Mahar Myaing (2) quarter is located between 35 to Theikpan street and
between 60 to 64 street. It is in the Mahar Aung Myay township. It is around Manaw
Yamann playground. Its area is about 1.23 Sq km. There are 2174 nos of houses. And
there are 2224 nos of family units which have 11254 nos of population. The collected
wastewater is disposed to Myaung Gyi channel from Manaw Yamann channel, and
Nadi channel from C47 (MC) (L). Figure 1.1. shows location of the study area.

1.5. Overview of the Study


This study is composed of five chapters. The objectives, scope of the study
and information of study area are introduced in chapter one. Chapter two consists of
literature review. The data preparation for the drainage system is considered in
chapter three. And chapter four contains analysis and design of drainage system. And
then chapter five is composed of discussion, conclusion and recommendations for this
study.
