Lab Report No:14 To Make U-Chart Usiing Minitab Objective

This document provides instructions for making a U-chart in Minitab using variable subgroup sizes to measure percent nonconformities per unit. It explains that a U-chart is similar to a C-chart but accounts for differing subgroup sizes. The steps include entering the data in Minitab, selecting the U-chart option from the control charts menu, and generating the chart with central line and control limits to identify any special causes of variation.

Lab report No:14

To make U-chart usiing Minitab

Objective:
 To know about the U-chart.
 To learn making of u-chart in Minitab.

Introduction:
U-chart: It is just like the C-chart only the difference is that that it is used for variable subgroup
sizes.

It is used for percent nonconformities per unit.

C
Formulas: U for each individual subgroup: U=
n

Central line:
´
Ú =
∑C
g

UCLu=Ú + Ú LCLu=Ú − Ú
Control limits:
n √ and
n√
Steps in making U-chart:
1). Enter data in Minitab. As shown in figure:

Figure:14.1 (show the different steps in making u-chart)

2). Now click on stat=> control charts=>attribute charts=>uchart diagnoses:

Figure:14.2 (show the different steps in making u-chart)

3). It give you the below chart that shows that you have to use U-chart:

Figure:14.3 (show the different steps in making u-chart

4). Again click on stat=>=> control charts=>attribute charts=>uchart as shown:

Figure:14.4 (show the different steps in making u-chart)

5). Thus you will get the following U-chart for variable subgroup data:

Figure:14.5 (show the different steps in making u-chart)

Conclusion:
After this lab we are able to make U-chart for the data having variable group size.
