St. Mary's College of Catbalogan: School Promotional Video Contest
PURPOSE
The purpose of this event is to showcase the skills of the students in video editing and how well
or wise they are in their content especially that they are going to promote their school. It will also
trigger the student's capability to set a difference between Marians then and now through this
School Promotional Video.
ELIGIBILITY
The School Promotional Video Contest is open for Senior High School (SHS) students currently
studying in Saint Mary’s College of Catbalogan (SMCC) who are willing and interested in
participating the said contest. It is a team competition (by class or by faction for example:
Dauntless, Amity, Divergent and etc.).
GUIDELINES
Judging Criteria
1. The Videos will be judged in terms of creativity, originality, message content and
technical organization (sound and picture quality). The decisions of the judges will be
final.
2. The competition closes before November 22, 2019 ends. The competition winners will be
announced on the culminating program of the event.
3. Videos will be judged over a score of (100) points on the following criteria:
a. Creativity /Originality (40 pts):
Entries must be the students’ own work, in the student’s own words, and may
include personal experiences and thoughtful observations. Videos must reflect
that the student has carefully examined and thought through the topic.
The video should stick to the theme of the competition which is “The Marians
of Then and Now.”
b. Message Content (30 pts):
Does the student apply/address the theme of “The Marians of Then and
Now.”?
Is the video relevant?
How compelling is the video?
Is the video presented in a logical sequence?
c. Technical Organization (20 pts):
How well is the video produced in regards to continuity, timing, camera
operation, sound quality, editing and adherence to time limit of 3-5 minutes?
Is it unique? How well is the video editing? Is there any special effects? How
about the transition? Is it smooth or not?
d. People’s Choice – Most Hearts (10 points)
The video entries will be posted on The Horizon Facebook Page. The videos
will be ranked based on the number of ‘Hearts’ and the corresponding points
will be added to the final Judges’ score (see table below). Note: Heart
reactions ONLY!
